COLORADO WRENCH / MEET AND GREET PARTY!
Planning a get together at my place on Saturday June 8th. (Colorado Springs, Colorado)  Starts 9am ends when you go home. All are welcome. Bike maintenance, repair, or just hang out and tell lies. If anyone needs a tire changed you can have whatever tire you want installed drop shipped to my place. We will be serving pulled pork sandwiches, chips, drinks, and maybe some ice cream. A head count would be really nice. If you are planning on any service or repair work being done post it here so I can make sure we have what we need on hand. For those of you that don't know where I live you can email me at damonkinter@aol.com for the address. If you have any questions you can get ahold of either me or Whooray at Whoorayhill@gmail.com RSVP here.  :cooldude:

Count me in  :cooldude: It sounds like a great time.
The problem with Socialists is they eventually run out of other people's money to spend!

Some people are too stupid to realize how ignorant they are.

Moonshot_1

OOOoooo so close.

We (wife and I) got plans to be pulling into the Castle Rock area June 10th.
Will be touring the Colo. Springs area for a few days then to parts north after that.

I would REALLY like to get together for this.
But a prior commitment looms.  My wife and her company are dragging me to a working award celebration in Hawaii.  I am required to attend....and worse yet....I might have to wear a tie for two of the banquets.  :coolsmiley:

I'd like to make it, and just hang out, meet & greet, tip a cpl (tea or whatever), help out.  Don't have any wrenching I need to do (and have the right tools here anyway).   But I have out of town company the week preceding, don't know if they will still be here.  I'll RSVP when we get closer and things firm up.  I'm thinking I put your place in my GPS before but I'm not seeing it in my waypoints.

OK D, so what's the Memorial ride?  My lifelong friend in KS is coming that weekend for us to ride together for the first time in 40 years.  We used to ride together as kids.  Now he has the Harley he always wanted - in spite of my best efforts to steer him to a reliable ride.  Can't win em all.  At least he's riding SOMETHING.  I told him - I'm not sparing him the "told ya so's" when it breaks while we're riding.  I expect to do mostly day rides all over the front range foothills for his introduction to biking in Colorado.  No overnighters on this first ride-in.

What do you have happening?  Possibly he'd want to do one group ride with experienced twisty riders.

Later in the fall we're talking about a multi-day ride to the Grand Canyon.  Nothing set up yet.

Here is the thread. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,53683.0.html Denver Dave has a three room cabin rented for Saturday night and is looking to split it with two others. I think it rents for $125.00 split three ways is a good deal for all. See what you can do about getting your buddy interested.

I know all of those roads very well - and have also stayed in both of those hotels over the years.  The Black Canyon across the street in Montrose has been HQ for the HCC ride in for years - while I've stayed there and in several other hotels in Montrose. Creede is where the guy who shot Jesse James (Howard) was killed himself in a barfight.  That valley is one of the most beautiful roads in Colorado.  Ridden 93 to Crawford countless times - was better when the destination was Pam Cocker's Mad Dog Ranch Fountain Cafe in Crawford.  Wish they could re-open it.  All of the roads in the San Juans are just spectacular. Going up the headwaters of the Rio Grande (Creede) on Hwy 149 you'll pass right by where Alferd Packer had his grisly grub.  Be sure to stop in at the Packer Saloon in Lake City for a commemorative Cannibal Sandwich.

In the Colorado Rockies
Where the snow is deep and cold
And a man afoot can starve to death
Unless he's brave and bold

Oh Alfred Packer
You'll surely go to hell
While all the others starved to death
You dined a bit too well

— from The Ballad of Alfred Packer

Some might be amused at the sentence pronouncement at Alferd's trial:

Legend has it that Judge Gerry then pronounced the sentence as "Stand up yah voracious man-eatin' sonofabitch and receive yir sitince. When yah came to Hinsdale County, there was siven dimmycrats. But you, yah et five of 'em, goddam yah. I sintince yah t' be hanged by th' neck ontil yer dead, dead, dead, as a warnin' ag'in reducin' th' Dimmycratic populayshun of this county. Packer, you Republican cannibal, I would sintince ya ta hell but the statutes forbid it."

Read the unabridged story of Alferd packer here:  http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/history/alfred_packer/index.html

I'd love to make it, but it may be too soon for Ron and his Harley.  He has NO road riding or trip experience, wants to ease into it.  Frankly, I think he needs a more serious road burner than his Harley.  He's TRAILORING it here from Wichita, only 480 miles.  Hell, that's an easy day ride for me.  Well, he IS on a Harley...

Unfortunately, my plans have been changed. My daughter's 10th birthday is on Sunday and my wife decided to make the party on Saturday  :tickedoff:  Apparently I didn't give her enough notice!! Hopefully I can meet up with you folks another time. Scratch me off the list, sorry  :-[

[/quote That stinks. Earlier this year someone posted about us working on bikes here. You made a comment that you would like to come here sometime and help, hangout, learn or whatever it was and that's what brought this whole thing about. I was looking forward to meeting you here. Oh well, maybe next time.
