For those of you using the GoPro camera, which one do you use?  The model with the normal or the wide lens?  I saw the wide version on sale at CarToys yesterday for $169, but the 170 degree field of view seems very wide, espically if I want to use it as the only camera on a ride.  Opinions would be appreciated!

I just bought the 170 degree because I have a handle bar mounted reg digital and one more in my bag. As you can see, you get a pretty comprehensive look at things when mounted on a helmet. I also mount low on a front bag rail so the shifter, clutch, front wheel and open road is visible. Man, I hope I'm done with this camera deal!! I gots tooooo many!

Counting the GoPro (which I managed to get into "not working" mode on the first try), I have 5 cameras on this trip.  Wizard has 2.  I left several at home, including a couple of video cameras.

Feel better?

on our last Valk outing by the folks we were riding with. Apparently they've never seen a passenger shooting above her head backwards before.
Hey! it keeps her awake.
I wonder what she would do if we got a GoPro? they are coming down in price...
She usually carries 2 cameras on most rides over a day.

You could mount it on your helmet but face it backwards and video her for 56 min. Cheesy

Mine fell out of my bicycle helmet... I though it was busted, turns out that the SD card came a little
unseated. I just pushed it the rest of the way back in, and now I'm downloading yesterday's
mt. bike videos...  cooldude

Maybe this is your problem too...

Nope. Mine actually gives an error message.

I think I'm going to 1) remove the batteries for a full day and 2) erase anything on the card (no pictures unless taken by accident while setting things up).

Then we'll see....

I just recently bought the 170 degree wide lens.
It does a good job.  The only thing I hate is the "fisheye" effect it give everything in the "outer" field.
I would prefer the regular 54 degree lens, but I have this one and am stuck with it.  To change to the regular lens, I have to buy the camera and housing.  That will cost almost as much as I paid for the whole unit and mounts.
But it does good job with videos.

As far as the error message Lyn-Del.  If you have a card bigger than 2 gb in it and your video is more than the 54 minutes, I understand it will give an error message.

Just a thought

I was trying to set it for still pictures - I don't like watching videos (no offense intended to anyone).  But I would like to set it to auto still photos, which we can choose what to keep and what to erase.

The card is bigger than 2 gig.  I was under the impression that it would be OK for still photos.  Paper work is, of course, at home.

Erasing the disk did the trick.  Three videos on it, each about 3 seconds long.  Gone now
