I just got an I/S tank that i want to put on my tourer, it came with the sending unit still in place, Now can ijust keep it plugged in the way it is and mount it ? or does it need to be removed and get the other plug from the  bf bike instead. I do have the spacer to shim the tank for clearance not sure about lifting the handlebars up a little yet.
the other concern is my corbin seat, i read that some conflicting opinions that some of the corbins seat wont latch back in place( the front of the seat) , some do...not sure...any input is highly appreciated.
NB: I LIKE MY SOLO SEAT Smiley

Larue, is it the same color so you don't have to repaint it? Good find either way. Not sure I understand your question. When you say the "BF bike" are you referring to the plug that Big BF makes to take the place of the sender? If so, it's not needed if the sender is already in place. You ought to think about installing a fuel gauge since the sender is already there. Not a hard job, probably have to change the connector on the end of the wires. In fact, before installing the tank you might want to consider doing that and adding a couple feet of wire. Then coil up the wire so it isn't hanging loose but available to you when you get around to putting on a gauge. That way you won't have to pull the tank again.

As for the seat, you might have a problem depending on how flexible the nose of the Corbin is. The back end of the I/S tank is higher so a Std. seat often won't fit good. If the nose is flexible enough so it will push up when you press the seat down, then it might work for you. Usually will wrinkle the leather a little, all you can do is experiment but I think the Corbin is rather stiff up front.

An afterthought re. the seat/tank fitting. When I first installed my I/S tank I had an Ultimate seat and the nose was quite flexible. After a few hours in the saddle, the seat latched in place quite easy. However, I could see where it contacted the tank was going to eventually rub the paint real bad. So, I went to an auto parts store and bought some black peel & stick deco trim tape used on cars. Cut out strips in the shape of the contact shape on the tank and put it on. After doing that, the seat rubbed on the tape and it was covered when the seat was in place so you didn't see it. Keep us updated on how it's going with the installation.

yes John i was referring to the Big BF parts guy, the fuel guage is a brilliant idea will definately go for that too. The tank is in great shape except for a little dent on the shoulder, no rust very and very clean, and John its not black its a two tone, so it still needs paint, but for what i snatched for, its worth everything 280 shipped to my house, not bad at all. thank you john will keep u posted.

Dude, you ought to be ashamed stealing something like that for that price.  2funny  Great score my friend, but I still got you beat; got mine for ZERO $$, ZIP, NADA. Right place, right time always seems to work best when it comes to price.  cooldude

I have an Autometer, it's their C-2 version with blue LED back lighting. It's programmable to work with the I/S sending unit, but I think there are others available. Mine has been trouble free for a good 8-9 yrs. now, I made a bracket to mount it between the speedo and tach. Easy to do, have to get some different bolts, make some spacers, etc.  I'll show you how it's mounted next time.

As Far as the Corbin seat fitting, the seat Pan is hard Fiberglass on the Corbin. You may be able to put some washers between the seat pan and the latch bracket or longer Bolts and Some washers. I have had to do this on a couple of Corbin Seats. You just have to put a couple of washers on each bolt between the seat pan and latch bracket and check the fit so it is tight when it latches. you may have to do this several times until you get it to fit to your liking. Trying to get them to latch and stay away from Scratching the Tank at the same time can be a pain but after you get it shimmed it will fit fine.
