I work at a School district as the Computer Geek. The Metal/Wedding shop kids always need projects so had them make a rack and external fuel tank that came out great. I am now attaching hoses and such. The previous owner has a external fuel tank on this bike (97 Standard Val, 160,000 miles) too but when I bought it, the tank was no where to be found. The bike still had the piping on it. I am now redoing it all and wondering about something. He had install a Puralotor Pro 12S fuel pump. The spec's say 1.5 to 4 gal a min. He also had a regulator on the line. Wondering about the regulator. Do I need it, or was it peace of mind? The line ties into the line coming from the main tank to the carb's. I can't ask him as he is not around anymore. If I need it (regulator), could I get a different fuel pump that  does not need it? Just wondering what my options are and don't want to get stuck somewhere because I didn't ask the question now.
Thanks all!!! cooldude

If the tank is above the carbs, it's just a gravity feed system. No pumps needed.
