might anyone have one of those little "rear pad spring" - part - it sits in the back of the calipar and kinda holds the end of the brake pad - laying around?  i've been told by the local dealer that you have to buy the whole arm assembly to get a new one - the assembly lists for $78 - way too steep for me.  maybe if you have an old calipar around - it might still be attached?

thanks.

I have an extra around here somewhere. I bent a corner of mine on the standard a few years back. I ordered a new one and, while waiting for it to arrive, I snipped off the bent corner with no other problems. Never ended up installing it.

I'll see if I can find it, but know for certain you can buy it separately.

DO NOT take the dealers word as the last word. Go to Honda Direct line and key on the flag that says Honda O E M parts and then follow directions. RIDE SAFE.

Thanks guys,

Nitro, I'll try that snip off the bent part and see if that might just do the trick.  I'm guessing that it holds the end of the brake pad from riding up in its cradle - so I better put it back somehow.  If you do happen to find the extra one I'll gladly pay both t he cost and shipping - and a few brews on top.

Thanks again.

I didn't notice before that we're neighbors (in valkyrie terms anyway). Most of my family lives in the Madison area (I grew up in Barneveld), we should get together on a ride sometime.

I'll look for the parts tonight.

Nitro,
It's the top one - the smaller one.  Let me know what I owe you and I'll send a the money right away.  I filed and hammered the old one into some kind of shape and put it back on.  Seems to be OK for now but I would like to put the new one on just to be sure.  I'm off to a Blue Ridge Parkway ride in about 3 weeks so I want them brakes working right :-)

On a ride some time.  Sounds great.  I ride the SW part of the State a lot  - pretty much every weekend, usually Sunday.  I'd like to head up your way one of these days  - really like the Kickapoo Valley area for riding.  I'm retired so can ride most anytime just let me know and we'll meet up somewhere.

Thanks again.

Send me a PM with your address and I'll get it out to you tomorrow.

I'll let you know the next time I'm down that way with the Valk. There are lots of fun roads in that area. Kickapoo River valley/Wildcat Mtn area is fantastic for sure.
