The VRCC needs an app for your phone. Someone in the club has to know how to get this done.

That is all.

The site works great on my HTC Droid DNA.  But it's a huge phone with a huge screen.....about the next best thing to having a tablet without having to have a tablet.   Wink

There is a version of Tapatalk for the forum software that is running here, but the management has expressed concerns about using it as the custom banner ads they display wouldn't be displayed.

But yes, I agree with you, it would be far easier to remotely participate in this forum with Tapatalk or something like that to optimize it for mobile.

As was said above though, it is usable on a remote browser, just not as friendly as it could be.

I was thinking this would be a great idea too. I am sure most of us would pony up a few $$ for the app. Maybe help pay some bills around here. A qiuck link to the vortex in the app would be handy for those on the road who might need a hand. I have no knowledge about how to make this happen but for sure would use it.

I frequently use my Droid Razr ,before that a Bionic to post and read through the forum using the browser. Here lately ,been using Chrome. I'm not a big fan of the short cut or abbreviated apps as they usually present challenges to findings things because they are trying to simplify things for a smaller screen. Many sites recognize when you are on an a mobile device will automatically present that version or offer that choice. I usually end up clicking on "view full site" or something like that.

There is an app called TapaTalk.  Basicially you open the app and is loads in the latest unread posts.  I use if for many other forums I'm a member of.  The app itself is free (at least it was when I got it).  There is just something the forum moderators need to add into the site coding to allow it to sync up.

On my phone the site detects the browser type and switches to a mobile mode.  It works great for the text, but pictures are not displayed.

I use my S3 to look at the site at home all the time.  I will say that it does kinda suck, but it is not so bad that I cant see everything i want to see.

Yup ........... i hear an echo!!!
Said the same thing the day I joined this site.

Tapa-talk does not recognize this site and neither does Motorcycle App.com!  tickedoff

Funny thing is, my other favorite site isn't recognize by both apps either. Maybe keeping it simple is better.

Serk has it correct.

To support the VRCC, we have advertisers who pay fees to have their banner ads displayed here on the message board.  If we were to install Tapatalk, many of our users would view the message board through that app.  Tapatalk will insert their own ads into the app, and THEY would get the ad revenue, not to mention the fact that our advertisers would not get what they paid for.

Trust me when I say that I would love to have a nice mobile app, but we do not have the budget to have our own custom mobile app.  A few dollars here and there from members will not pay for such a venture nor support the message board.

Besides, you need to step away from the smartphone from time to time anyway.  crazy2 Evil

Sorry to resurrect this old thread. But I just joined the modern world by getting my first, cheap smart phone. I wanted to use this great forum on this android phone, and it wasn't very easy to use or read. As others have said, tapatalk won't work with this site. I found what appears to be a spin off of tapatalk, called "forum fiend." The android version of the free "forum fiend" app says that it can't find this vrcc forum. But, nonetheless, it opens the vrcc forum and adapts it for a better viewing experience than I get in chrome or any other android browser. And, no, I have no affiliation with the forum fiend app. Just hoping this will help some members here.
