Just an FYI !!!

We had a bike come into the shop for a shimmy problem. After diagnosis , we saw it had an air suspension. I had him straddle the bike and bounce the front forks. Just as he straightened the bike and started to do it , the smoke started rolling out from under the fuel tank , back to the seat , then to the battery. It was a frantic minute as we got the seat off and got ready to cut the cables.
  His newly installed sterio wiring had shorted out and went up in smoke.  The wiring was not properly tied back. I asked him if he fused the wiring? He did , at the radio.
  Lesson here , FUSE AT THE BATTERY , NOT AT THE RADIO!  He followed factory instructions.
  I bet he would really needed clean shorts if he was on the road and it went up in smoke.
  The bike had only minor damage and it still ran . He on the other hand (?) was happy we saved the bike from further damage.
