How hard is it to test an I/S radio? Or can a dealer do this?

Dash is blank, no sound, if I press the power button, I get what looks like Klingon, then it changes to say 1:00. It never changes and it stays on even with the key in the off position. I bought it as is after being stored for two winters and the dealer messing it up and hydro locking it. I've since repaired the mechanical, now I just have this problem left till it's 100%. I've checked all the plug ins and they're fine. Added di-electric grease, no change. I'll probably sit down with the service manual and a volt meter this weekend and see if I can chase down the problem but I admit, it's not my strong suit.

There is a large Blue terminal within the fairing and behind the LCD display. I will bet that it is corroded to the point of having such high resistance that there may be more than radio issues.

First disconnect the battery, check that all your fuses are OK. Take the terminal halves apart, spray contact cleaner into all the male/female connections, put it back together, then tack it apart again and spray all the connections. Do this several times, then get some dielectric grease and put some into every female connection, reconnect the terminal halves, reconnect the battery and retest for radio function.

Good luck

Did it work before you serviced the engine?

I sent you an email with a possible fix. Let me know if you received it.
