I bought my valk  last november it only had 8300 miles on it . Its not running right and I have put new plugs and ran a couple cans of seafoam through it. I am looking for someone in southern Indiana or northern Kentucky that could clean and sync the carbs. My local shop doesnt know much about valks.                   Thanks Marty

Great machines , but the carbs and rear end splines are areas to be maintained religiously. I wouldn't let anybody who hasn't rebuilt Valk carbs before do it. You may have to do it yourself. Probably your best bet, to get it done right.

Most jet fouling is in the slow jets, not the fast, so you need to have the rpm of the engine low. Like drive it slow in a high gear. This will keep the bike in the < 2K RPM range, and should help better.

Also, with some poeple they have found using one brand of cleaner never cleaned the jets fully. They tried a different brand, like Techron, and got a little more cleaning out of it, and better running. Then Berryman's B12, and better still.

The other thing is strength, like 1/2 can to half a tank of gas. Ride. Park. Ride. Park. Gives the jet a chance to soak also with the high strength cleaner.

Marty. If you are willing to try this on your own I will gladly walk you through it. It is really not a big deal. damonkinter@aol.com

'Not running right' . What does that mean exactly ?
If it runs good above 3K rpms or so and stumbles below that, then you probably have varnished low circuits in a few carburetors.
So, if its drive-able, then I'd recommend running a few tanks of heavy doses of fuel cleaner thru it at lower engine speeds in order to force the low circuits to work. In other words, if it starts to run poorly below say 2500 then just keep the engine speed right there until it starts to clear up. Once it starts running better just lower the engine speed again until it runs poorly and force it run there awhile. If that clears things up, fine. If not, after 2-3 tanks, then it time to get your hands dirty and clean some carburetors.
I happen to like Sea-foam. Some folks say they are having better results with Techron.

Thanks for the replys I tried a bottle of techron at lower RPMs today it seemed to start running better, got to work 12 hour days for the next 3 so going to let it sit and see if that helps. I live in corydon about 20 miles from Louisville Ky.                 Thanks Marty
