Hi Everyone:

I put SilverStar 9003 headlight bulbs in my I/S by grinding one of the three tabs off the bulbs. I did not use any adapter rings. The other night I tried to adjust them vertically downward using the two top knobs behind the front fairing. The beams did move after after a few (or more) full turns, but not as much as I would like. I was hesitant to turn the knobs anymore.

Has anyone ran into the same problem, not getting enough vertical adjustment, too?

Thanks,
Marty

I did the same thing with PIAA bulbs and had no problems, as I believe many others have as well, without the adaptors.  Did you remove the fairing to install them or just try to reach up from behind.  My hands are too big to get in there, so I always pull the fairing.  Not too tough and can be done in under 10 minutes (in the parking lot of a Chinese restaraunt).  You may want to check to make sure they are properly seated...

Where your rear shocks are adjusted will have an effect on the vertical aiming of the head lights.   uglystupid2

It takes a lot of turns of the knobs to move it much.  hoser

I used the adapters when I installed my Silverstars and have had no need to adjust them.  I thought that was the reason for using the adapter to begin with, so that they would be aimed correctly for adjustment purposes???  With the adapters it worked well... cooldude
