I run 75/90 Castrol full synthetic. The rear gear case stays cool even on the hottest days.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

In a word, no.  the multi viscosity rating means it is suitable for use with any spec that is called for within that range.

The GL5 rating needs to be on the bottle. It's a common rating and on most gear oils you find.

Redline Mt 90. $18 quart though. I put some in my manual tranny in my car. It's a little thick . Hard shifting in the morning then it's quiet as a mouse after 30 miles or so.

This oil is not a hypoid gear oil (GL-5).  It is a transmission oil and  not suitable for the Valkyrie final drive.

I use Mobil 1 GL5 75w140 Synthetic. The final Drive does stay much cooler with this than it does with regular lube. It also looks much better when you change it.

I use amsoil 500k mile 75w90 and add a moly supplement as if came from the factory.  if one wants even more protection use their high shock servere gear 75w90.

the use of 140w just waste fuel.  the reason it has come about is for EPA extended drain requirements, or otherwise known as life time fill by the manufacturers. whereas over time all oil starts to shear down to lower weights. This epa requirement happened in '96-'97 time frame. this is part of a zero discharge policy by the epa. they are even pushing for 100k oil changes for new vehicles. there are already some new vehicles where the transmissions and diffs have no drain plugs.

and a higher viscosity oil always causes a small rise in operating temp.

It won't hurt your gears, but may cause a wee bit more fuel usage due to the increased resistance of the more viscous oil.
