Getting set to order new windscreen for tourer...should I go with the original or give Clearview ...F4...a try? Tinted or clear? Vented or not? Probably go with stock size 21.5" I think.

I tried a cut down W/S on my I/S and realized I DO NOT like the wind blast as much as I used to when I wuz younger. I went back to whatever is stock height on an I/S. I need a wind blast all I gatta did is lean left or right a bit and I are in the wind. RIDE SAFE.

I would go with the Clearview. It is good stuff and does not have the coating the Honda sheild has. Get the vent too, it is well worth it. Not a bad job to install yourself.

Clearview all the way! Loved mine before the Woody's fairing. I recommend you get the wide version, really knocks the wind AND RAIN off ya!

I got the Clearview tinted with a cut out for a vent. Bought a vent kit separate. They cut the vent hole free. Stock height; I love it over the old OEM shield.

Got a Clearview with the vent and can't really tell a difference wether the vent is open or closed. If I need to buy again I will not get a vent.

Do not get the original Honda shield! It has a surface layer that will begin to peel and flake in little to no time and it reduces visibility. Get the clearview shield, I'm on my 3rd shield, 2nd clearview and have had nothing but a good experience with the clearview. No vent on mine.

I have a clear view, the biggest they made for the interstate. i dont like the wind in my face pulling my helmet off, and i love this one. I can sit up and see over it, or ride comfortable and see through it. Keeps the rain, bugs and rocks off of me.
I have had mine on about 2 years now, starting to get some swirl marks in it, but have not tried their polish yet to see if that would clean them out. They claim it will. Sounds like a winter project to me, as they are not bothering me enough to take the fairing apart again yet.

I replaced my OEM with a 21.5 inch Clearview windscreen and no vent. It's a quality procduct. My only caution is that when you install it don't tighten the fastners alongside of the headlight to tight or you will pucker the chrome. The reason is that the CV shield is thicker than the OEM, however if you shim at those points all is well.

Here is mine with the vent. Wish I didn't get it because I don't feel a difference wether open or close. Hold your hand close to the open vent while at speed, you will feel the air movement. I like mine. I'm sure it helps with airflow. 10,000 goldwing riders can't be wrong. Hoser

I do mostly short range riding and I am happy with the clearview with the vent I have the shortest size they sell and its easier to mount if you have the cobra lightbar installed

I bought a Cee Bailey +2 for my Interstate about a year and it has worked great. I could not justify the premium price of Clearview. The Cee Bailey +2 is $110 vs Clearview Tour 3 @ $167.
For the Standard & Tourer, Clearview is less than Cee Bailey…$203 vs $279.
I’m not sure about the vent as the interstate has a vent in the faring. I thought it's purpose is to equalize pressure to reduce helmet buffeting at faster speeds.

Been behind my clearview for a few years. I got the vent only difference I can tell is money and when in town above 90F and under 40mph. I would go without vent next time. other wise it is great.

This topic is right on time for me. I just sold my Goldwing today.... so my 97 standard Valk will be my main road bike. I have an unknown brand of windshield on it now and it works okay. But, I have an original tourer shield hanging in my garage, it came with the bike with all the mounting hardware. So, I'd like to up grade to a Clearview, I just didn't know what size, vent or no vent. I had a vent on my Wings windshield and I liked it. I live in the desert, so it helped with cooling a bit. After reading all the posts, I may go with the stock height. I don't know though,I'm only 5'9'', and I kinda like the thought of being able to see over the top if I need too. What does every one say height wise? I just measured the one I have, it's 19," so maybe I may stick with that size.

Yesterday I installed the tabs I made a few years ago. Tilts the shield about 1 inch. Increases the air volatility behind the screen. I'm 5'11'' ish and can see 3'' over the screen. You also get some rain, bugs and hail but it's worth it to me. Can't get the link or picture to post from the archives.
The holes are 1" (center to center). It's made of aluminum. Don't forget to cut out the bottom of the shield as it looks a bit funny. Like sticking out it's lower lip.

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/forum/tech_archive.cgiHere is the link to the tabs for tilting the shields. Well this link is just to the archives not the post about the tabs. Do a search for "tilting the windshields" it's hiding there.

I think the un-tinted might be best due to all the chrome and shiny goodies on the Valk. Mine is litely tinted and I get a lot of reflection back from it, tach , speedo, headlite, fuel cap chrome, etc. Might not be so bad with the clear un-tinted.

Hey thanks for the input, think I'll go with the largest Clearview shield w/out tint and probably go without the vent. Will post after I get to ride behind it for a bit. No response on the F4 custom shields, they,re made of poly and seemed to be about indestructible which had my interest cause I hate marred and scratched glass.

It would seem that the F4 is superior from a material standpoint. Aside from price difference, are there any issues with the F4? Just surprised all responses were clearview...
