Just some more ideas for building a six tube manometer on the cheap. This one cost me $0 to build,,, just stuff laying around,,  and is much more accurate than a set of gauges can ever hope to be. I used two #7 rubber stoppers, one I put six holes in for the vinyl tubing and the other is solid. I used a piece of 1 1/4 vinyl tubing for the reservoir,, about a foot long and filled it with ATF. Used some pieces of vent hose to make the connection from the vinyl tubing to the intake taps. It works very well,, showed me I have a leak in the petcock diaphragm..... HA... found ya...   I started with a cold engine, and was all over the place until everything got up to temp..... best to just let it warm up before you even touch a screw. Waiting for it to cool down so I can put the caps back on and go  riding,,,,  should be good by now.

How much blood did you have to draw to fill that thing up?  I'd be dizzy.  crazy2

I see more of the flat black now, looks good with the bumblebee.  Often wondered what my trunkless interstate would look like in bumblebee colors (double racing stripe, not curves).  Black is easiest to fix thou.

Arrrr matey,, it's alive!!  That really made a big difference in the just off the idle response and drive ability. I didn't see a problem with it before,, but now the two to three K rpm range in high gear is just barely off the stop,, it seems as if it took a bit more throttle before for any given speed,, also idle feels more solid. There was nothing wrong before I did the procedure, but just like anything, the closer you get to perfect, the better it is....  I think I will do it again in a few days just to see if it will come any closer,, also I'm leaking a bit of vacuum through the petcock until I get a "cover set".  Now before I try to dial in the idle mixture, I am going to run some cleaner through the carbs. I just had them apart and they looked OK, but might as well try to get them squeaky clean before any more adjusting. I just found Techron 20 gallon treatment at Orieilly, buy one get one free for $12.49 for a few more days. I have seen preferences on the board for three different fuel treatment products... Is Techron OK to do the job??

I move back and forth between Techron and Seafoam..... in case one gets something the other didn't.

I usually give more concentrated amounts to a quarter tank and a hard run, than full tank treatments.

And because I can only run ethanol-polluted gasoline.

I have a similar setup and when I hooked it all up last week 2 lines went right off the end and I had ATF all over the floor. How do I go about reducing the vacuum to these 2 lines and reset all the rest. I have used this before several times and on different Valks and it always worked fine.  Thoughts?

Hey oliverjb, not sure what you mean by "2 lines went right off the end and I had ATF all over the floor"  but I did find out that you need a solid or stiff object for a reservoir, I first tried a juice bottle and outside air pressure would push on it so that the ATF would have gone straight into the intakes..  I used the rigid tubing and made sure it was FULL so there was very little air left,, this causes a good vacuum inside as the ATF rises into the tubes and will not allow it to travel excessively high so you rig does not need to be as tall. You may want to uncap your reservoir, allow the fluid to drain back down from your tubes, top it off, recap and try again..??
