Man I go away for a couple of days and look what happens. Willow, Mr. VRCC you are loved.
Is there an address where we can pool a couple of bucks to help Stude31 and other folks involved with gas and other support costs?+

I don't know Willow personally but---he is a VRCC Icon..HE WILL BE BACK, thats all there is to it! With all this support for him and Lori, how can he not be! The information we are getting is to the point, accurate, and says tons for everyone involved. Thank you guys and your families for keeping us informed the right way..It also doesn't leave anything as far as "guessing" that usually leads to rumors. Wtih friends like this, he can't miss.

Guys,

I went to see Carl this morning and saw the stack of letters from all of you.  I didn't go through them but was overwhelmed with the love and support of all of you.  Your letters are getting to Willow and Lori.

They are getting him up and had a "bath" or a wipe down and he has been sitting in the recliner all afternoon.  Everyone is in great spirits.  Whistler came up to see him along with WamegoRob.

We will be heading back up after dinner.  Going to grill out some veggies and burgers for Lori and us.

Well the RR was gracious enough to slow down for a day so I was able to venture up to Topeka to see Carl and Lori. I must admit Carl looked a whole lot better than I imagined when I first heard of his injuries. It's a bit tough understanding him sometimes, between swelling and stitches, but he was communicating and he was Carl, Polite, Pleasant, and even a few jokes for anyone who talked with him. As Joe said they got him up a few times today and I thought he did pretty well although he still has some lightheadedness and tires quickly. Joe's mom is making sure he has the best available in staff, doctors, and care it sounds like, and I don't think anyone wants to cross her on that!! She is a sweetheart I enjoyed meeting her.

Lori is the rock she is and Joe and Teryl seem to be taking good care of her. She looked a bit tired but who wouldn't. Last I saw she had a Diet Coke so I am sure things are improving!!

Just before I left a new round of emails arrived. Lori said she was reading them to Carl at times, but there was no way to respond to each one, just know they are appreciated and they are getting them.

Without going into details, that is not my place, Carl is progressing well and sounds like he is on track with his care. Everyone seemed to be happy with his progress to this point. He has a long way to go and I am sure some tough days ahead so keep praying. I think I was there about five hours, during that time there was not one complaint from Carl even when at times you could tell things being done were uncomfortable.

On a personal note I rode today to see Carl, seemed like the right thing to do. The weather was perfect here and I got almost 300 miles round trip with a small side trip. I couldn't help but think it was a great day to ride and that Carl would find the day a great riding day as well. I can't wait till we do get to ride together again.

I do not personally know anyone on this forum, but I find it refreshing to see those that personally know "Willow" and many who only know of him, like I, via this forum, pull together and do what they can, even by means of well wishes.

I must do the same and wish the very best of outcome for "Willow" and family.

Whistler and Stude,

Thanks for your continued updates. It's great to hear that Carl is progressing in his recovery. We can't thank you enough! Be safe out there on the bikes. It'd be easy to let one get distracted and let their guard down.

To Carl and Lori,

Keep the good thoughts coming and continue to take small steps, Carl. It sounds like you're doing great, considering. And Lori, you're a ROCK of strength. Bless you!

Posted by Lori last night on FB:

Today was a better day. They put a new cervical collar on Carl which he will need to stay in it at least 4 weeks. He will be having surgery in the morning for his wrist, hand and toe. They will follow the surgery up with a swallow test to find out why he is unable to swallow. Physical therapy and OT both had him up a couple of times today. He gets a little dizzy and is somewhat unstable, but he is improving. He still has some bouts with his memory, confusion and disorientation at times. When I left tonight, they had just given him some pain meds, so hopefully he will sleep well tonight. We hope to be able to move him to rehab in the next few days and then we can move him back to the KC area. Again, thank you all for your support, encouragement, thoughts and prayers.

Lori, don't forget your favorite Cop in Iowa.     He is still holding that little town down.     I haven't talked to him lately, but I have talked to his dad.

Carl has been added to the Prayer list at church.

I'm still sending Prayers, thoughts and good vibes as we speak from Iowa.

Lori, please do not overdo it and you get down.     This is a time when Carl needs you the most.

If I'm able to do anything for you, just holler.

Heal fast Carl.

PS:   Ya should receive another card from me and the wife.
