Some one in the know please give me a response.

I've heard a STD/Tourer tail light will not fit under a I/S Trunk that has a CB mounted underneath.

Is this true or false.

Reason for asking I have a Tail light assembly sold to a gent in California if it will fit w/a CB mounted.

I know I have seen a lot of them mounted on I/S's, but I don't know if they have a CB mounted under the trunk.

Thanks in advance.  RJ

If you have a CB mounted under the truck the light wont fit. I think a light from a vtx may work. You would have to modify the fender a little.

RJ, I have read several times that the CB unit under the IS trunk can be turned sideways using the existing mount to allow the install of a std/tourer tail light.  It is the lens that hits.

I have been fishing for a good description of this modification by anyone who has done it in another thread about adding tail lights to an IS.

Are there any other brake/tail light assemblies that will work on an I/S(NO C B)besides the Standard or Tourer assembly?? AND without major modification? T I A.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I have heard the VTX light assembly will work.   But as ya say, modifications are needed.

As I reported in another thread on this subject, several Hondas use the same identical lens (only) as Valk.... cannot remember exactly, believe Aero, ACE, Sabre (1100s, maybe one 750), but the mount parts are not an exact fit, and mods are required to make it fit, but I do not know any detail bout mods other than it has been reported as do-able.  I suck at mods, so just ordered new parts/wiring harness piece, about $120.  This is a nice IS upgrade, the damn bike should have come with the std tailight on the fender, instead of the knockout.

PS, it is my understanding even if you get an OE wiring harness piece or two, it is not fully plug and play, and requires one wire from the right side cover.

The wise choice would be to stick with a Valkyrie tail light.

A used one from Pinwall is good.

Just make sure the wiring is complete with the light.

Ricky-D, I don't know about the off breed stuff they been suggesting, but the reason for my questio was, a gentleman in California wants a STD/Tourer tail light for his I/S.

I have one complete off of MGM when I changed him onto a Trike.    He had a question on it fitting with a CB.    So, I asked the question here.

Thanks for your input, maybe we can get this post back on course, will a STD/Tourer lite fit with minor mods to the CB mount.

I'm not taking it off the fender till I know.

I don,t have a CB on mine , but I did have to trim the tab at
the bottom of the mounting of trunk when I added the tail light.
Bill helped me do this when he showed me how to make the trunk
removable. Look at his web site and you will see what I mean.
It,s the part where he shows how to notch the rails so they
are removable.

Yes, RJ, the cb has to be relocated to under the seat to mount the std/tourer tail light.  Early Bird has done it.

No.

The light lens hits the CB.

I have a STD brake light on my IS, as I can remove the trunk and go solo.

I too relocated the CB to below the seat.

But the the answer to your question is no, it does not fit without modification.
(I don't think a 'Minor Modification' would fix the problem)

Cheers,

GJS

Thanks for the reply GJS.   Happy Holiday, and a safe one also.
