Well I'll be...... Welcome back. Tsukayu bags are a very nice alternative to OEM's. They should go very smootly indeed.

I have only heard good things about Tsukayu hard bags. I had ordered and then canceled the Tsukayu Jumbos right before I decided to go with leather.

Mine aren't drilled either. I actually think I saw your jig Scooby. I did a little research on here before ordering but if you wouldn't mind posting them again that would be great. Fortunately I have a well stocked shop with all kinds of adjustable fixtures and measuring devices so I'm not anticipating too much difficulty but any help is appreciated. Farther, I have really nice American Eagle Leatherworks bags now with red studs to match my seat. I like leather bags a lot. In fact, if they weren't so flashy I'd just keep them on.

They are truly a quality bag, you'll enjoy them. The Tsukayu brackets are quality but after mounting the resulting distance between the fender and the bag was to great. I'm probably going to remount the "strongs" on my 97 Valk using a modied OEM leather bag mounts. These modified Honda mounts will pull them much closer to the fender. BF has used this approach to mount his Mustang bags which I followed to mount a set Mustangs on my 98 Valk. You may have noted Mustang bags are built to spec by Tsukayu.

I'll put one up. Salty, thanks. I did not know that about the Mustang bags. Looks like you went the same route I did though, get the vinyl bags to match the seat which is cheaper than painting them to match the bike I may remove the vinyl at some point though if I decide to repaint the whole bike in the scheme I wanted. But that won't be until over this next winter at the earliest. Garry, that paint looks great and the organizer is a great idea. Does the aluminum plate go on the inside of the bag? I have a ton of aluminum around the shop I could use for that.

Anvil the photo below shows the aluminum flat bar on the inside of my Mustang bags. The bar is 1/8 by 1 inch. I used button head bolts to minimize abrasion of removing or adding stuff to the bag.

You're looking at it backwards Anvil,,, you just need to bring the rest of the bike up to the level of the bags!!! HA

Anvil. This is my bike before I started to give it a re-do. This is after I added the Woodys fairing, Mustang bags, and Harley trunk. And this is it today. Like Salty said, the Mustangs are Tsukayu bags covered in Mustangs material. I can't prove it, but I'd bet Tsudayu makes the bags for Mustang. They are identical to the Quick Release Strongs. Check Salty's thread he posted last week about mounting his bags. He posted a lot of great pics of what and how he mounted them. He did it the same way I did mine.

Just got the tracking info, should be here on Friday, a full two weeks earlier than promised. I'm jazzed. I'll keep you all informed on how I mount them. I have an idea that (if it works) should be pretty simple and quick.

They have arrived and they are AAAAWESOOOOOME. They came in a fiberglass crate that looks quite expensive to build. The only thing is that their configuration requires me to rethink my ideas for mounting them. Stay tuned.

If you haven't sold them yet, you might wanna reconsider selling those OEM leather bag mounts you had on ebay.

As BF is suggesting, use your OEM leather bag mounts. They will need some modification but your new bags will be very solidly mounted. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,55502.msg533103.html#msg533103

They're installed. I'll post some pics soon but a few notes on the install;
I pretty much followed the directions. Mocked up and drilled the right side bag with a 2x4 laid flat on the pipes for clearance and alignment. Then took the bag off, put the brackets on and taped the other set of brackets to them and butted up the left bag, marked and match-drilled them. Very easy actually. Had 'em mostly done in two hours. The only snag was that I had to shorten the supplied bolts as they were 1/2 inch too long and I had to shim the bags between the mount as the lid hit the strut bolts. I also made some web plates that I'm going to install on the inside of the bag for support similar to what Salty did but using one plate with four holes. Overkill? Totally, but that's how I roll.
I need to get some button head 8mm bolts that are a little longer than stock to mount the plates but I'm quite happy with the bags themselves.
