I have read many (very many) posts from searching, and I am still a bit confused.
I have a Rear Rim with Rotor off a 97 Standard as a spare that I plan to use on a 2000 Interstate. Now if I am reading all the info correctly as long as the rim and rotor are from the same year and model they will fit.
Do I have that right, or does it go deeper than this??

Thank You for any help.

I believe it will. I have a 97 wheel with a different rotor on my 99 I/S and I use a spacer to make it work.

Thanks for the quick reply
Is the Rotor you are using also from 97, or from your Interstate. And how much of a spacer did you need.

Dan,
My 99 I/S has a 97 wheel and the rotor is from a 2001? I think. I took a washer about the size of a silver dollar and a hole the axle will fit through. The washer is about 1/8" thick.

For anyone interested, I made the swap.
A Rim & Rotor from a 98 Standard fit onto my 2000 Interstate with no modifications or clearance issues.
There is a big difference between Rotors and although I feel the 2000 I/S Rotor on the 98 Rim would work, it would have pushed the Caliper out far enough to cause the Caliper to hit my Trailer Hitch when the suspension compressed.

Thank You all again for the added info and help.

You did it right.  It would not have worked had you used the 2000 rotor
