I like OEMs. Iridiums work fine but expensive. I don't think they offer any real "percs" . FWIW

Have never used any other than oem, but have seen many problems in autos caused by using other than oem plugs.

I use Autolite #4164 which has a necked down center electrode. Then I round the corners and cut back the side electrode so that a 1/4 of the center electrode is exposed. gapped on the low range at .030. http://www.sparkplugs.com/product.aspx?zpid=7776

Just replaced my Iridium plugs after over 30,000 miles and looked great and my bike always ran well and have gotten up to 42 mpg on trips just replaced them with the new E3 plugs but not made any trips to check mileage yet picked them up at advance auto on sale for 6 bucks each. http://www.e3sparkplugs.com/

E3 over priced. even video shows same amount of spark. a spark will always jump to the shortess easiest path. all based same as split fire on the time proven racers trick of cutting back the side electrode. suggested reading is Dr Jacobs org book on spark plugs and wires, even though its bias towards his products at the time, still some valuable technical info on plugs. and one wants to read info at www.magnacor.com

A follow up video on the E3's showed back to back dyno runs on a 400 hp street engine. The was a seven horse power gain with the E3's. I don't know if this is significant or within testing error on this dyno.

a knowledgable dyno operator can make one run look better than the other, little tricks of when the throttle is applied is one of them. a cut back side electrode will also provide more HP it is a drag racer trick for decades.

Ok, so what is the down side to the cut back side electrode? Seem that if it is so good that all plugs would come that way.

Swapped out the stock plugs in my 'Wing for Iridiums and immediately picked up 2-4 mpg. depending on how I ride her. Cold starts are much easier also. But that's just me. Pulled the plugs on the Phat Gurl the other day and they look fine. When it's time to swap them I'll try the Iridiums in her as well.

Just run stock plugs, gapped at .032, for 100K miles, replace them with another set of stock plugs (from a auto store), run another 100K miles.....rinse and repeat for another 100K miles. Unless your engine has a issue that is fouling plugs, changing from the stock plugs is simply an exercise that has no discernible results.

David Vizard.... http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/tech/0207mmff_tech/Rounding off the end of the side electrode as shown here reduces the peak temperature seen by the electrode so moving away from the possibility of detonation from this source. Also, in the relatively swirl-free conditions that exist at low rpm, this form gets the charge burning more effectively. Be sure to cut the electrode so the end of the tip is no further than half way over the center electrode. If plug life is not an issue cut it so it is between a 1/5 and 1/3 of the way over the center electrode Read more: http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/tech/0207mmff_tech/#ixzz2V1W9UXsI
