I was wanting to put a fairing on my standard and found a interstate complete fairing with brackets, gages etc.  I was wondering if I would need to change the wire harness what, also looked at other batwing fairing online to see which would work best...... Any suggestions or advise ???

Thanks

also, kingbee seems to have done it more than once. maybe he'll chime in or you can pm him
a few have done it but the key issue seems to be the wiring
have you considered another fairing, like Memphis Shades?
that's been done a lot

Get a Woodys fairing.  They're made specific for the Valkyrie.

There are several other options too.....

There's also a fairing from Harley.  Alot of folks have used a street glide or ultra glide fairing on their valks.

Thanks for all the information guys I am now thinking it sounds like no fun to put the interstate fairing on, maybe I will look at the other options.
Thanks again

I haven't done it, but I've read on here from other members adventures in putting an I/S fairing on a Standard or Tourer.  From reading some of their exploits, it's not an easy endeavor and will require a lot of wiring and re-wiring and matching harness and purchasing some sub-harness' as well.

Good luck whatever route you take.

I think it would depend upon price of the Interstate fairing and how much you wanted that look. cooldude For me, I think it would have to be a tremendously good deal or I'd be just looking for an Interstate. coolsmiley
I, like BF,  have the Woody Batwing fairing and am very pleased with it. Great quality product, hand laid fiberglass, specifically designed with the Valkyrie in mind. Plus, with the four 5.25" speakers and amplifier I have, the stereo sounds awesome  coolsmiley The version with audio, does require a kit $199. that relocates the speedometer and tach to in the inside of the handlebars and slightly lowers and moves the headlight forward. This to allow the fairing to sit correctly. I've seen some other batwings installed that looked like they were too high.
I've seen some decent installations using a Harley batwing. The best of which replaced the stock Valkyrie headlight with a Harley light. The reason,IMHO,is that the Harley fairings don't quite have the right fit around the Valkyrie headlight.
