Dumb question -- but I thought they were brakes and turn signals ( on the trunk) . Checking them yesterday -- just brakes and running lights .

No turn signals on the trunk but a lot of guys have converted them various ways.  Here is one way

My game plan is to use my trailer light converter and tie the outside two lights as brake/turn and convert the turn signals to brake/turn/running.  I already have an 1157 style plug in the rear signals so I have turn/running but will wire the turn circuit through the trailer converter.  The trunk brake lights will require extra wiring to separate the two bulbs so they will work at brake/turns.  (Makes sense in my head... Cheesy)

Be prepared to open the lower trunk clamshell completely. It's the only way to get at the trunk light wiring (there's only one brake light wire into the trunk, it splits way up near the lights).
I had it open (BIG pain; a zillion screws and the rubber bolt boots as well) to install the Polk Audio speakers. I'm not ready to do the brake/signal lights yet, but I soldered wires to the separate brake feeds so I don't have to open it up for that. Just hook up the new wires to the trailer controller and cut the existing brake light wire.
