Well, my Audiovox CCS-100 vacuum operated electronic cruise control seems to have bitten the dust.

Can't complain...have run it 170,000 miles now...

Replacement is required. Thinking the modern thing is to ditch the vacuum operated bit...

There are electronic/non-vacuum options...one is the Rosta...link here.

Looks pretty "CCS-100-like"...my concern is that it does not appear to use the tach/coil pulse as a speed sensor, and requires a speed sensor to be installed. I'm wondering if it would accept the tach/pulse on the VSS feed anyway?

Any thoughts? Other options?

Good question.... first thing would be to see how their speed sensor operates, is it an opto coupler or what... using the tach pulse directly may or may not work depending on many factors, the impedance of the speed control circuitry is foremost in my thinking. An optoisolatoer circuit could always be designed to use that pulse,, it would be a simple 1 IC circuit,, but the design and fabrication may be a bit time consuming..  I;m with you, I would try to not use their separate sensor if possible,, and it certainly is.

I doesn't use vacuum, $240. 'the unit governs speed based on the input it receives from the bike speed sensor wire' so it might have the same issue.
