Been pulled over twice in the last 5 days. Tonight I was doin 87. Real friendly officer and after chatting him up for 10 mins., he just gave me a warning and educated me about wild hogs.
So detectors are at the top of my wish list and am looking for advice on the best/most popular models that y'all are using.
Also plan to slow down... a little!
TIA

I'm sure you will get many opinions, but my vote is for Valentine 1.  I've been running V1's for 15 years and I just won't think about moving away from their directional arrow system that indicates the direction of the radar source.  You truly do get what you pay for.

One thing to remember about all radar detectors; if you are the only one on the road, you are going to get busted regardless of the type or performance of your detector.  Make sure you always have some traffic on the road to take a radar hit before you.

I don't remember the brand but it was made for mototorcycles. It has a LED that would light up in addition to the sound. There was a sensor in the rear too.
I took it off because there were too many false signals, you couldn't hear it so you'd have to keep watching te LED.
More of a distraction, better to keep looking at the road watching for cops. ( and slowing down)

Just my opinion.

Would he have given you a warning if he found you were using a radar detector?

In my experience (cage-based) you still get caught sometimes.

I have used a Escort passport 8500 since 05
I got 2 handy accessories a Radar box to protect it from the weather
and Radar remote blinker that plugs in between the radar detector and the power cord and send a wireless signal to an LED that I mounted on my helmet.
It flashes in the corner of my eye so noise is not a problem, and I don't have to see the detector screen.
Both available from http://www.legalspeeding.com/
No tickets so far.
Still speeding, a little faster, or a lot faster than the traffic flow.
Often I slow down way before the cages and my fellow riders because of the detector going off, but avoiding a ticket and the trill of speeding back up makes up for it.
On the open road the I get 5 miles plus notice.
The one that can get you is the Laser, you have to hit brakes with one.
Get a radar detector and ride the way you like.
