Like the subject says......water pump bad, gasket bad.......any thoughts. The bike had been in the chock for about a week and when I was messing around with the lift is when I saw it.

Maybe, but hoses (or rad cap) is more common.

If you have not cleaned anything (don't), do a Sherlock Holmes and follow the moisture (or sweet tasting stickyness) to it's highest source with a bright light.  A little liquid may travel a long way.

Obviously you tightened the lower hose clamp. Check the torque on the bolts holding the pump in place. You may have to tighten the upper hose clamp. Hopefully soon it becomes apparent what the leak is the result of.  Undecided

My 98 Tourer does it every spring after it's winter sleep.

Unheated garage in Michigan.

Most of the time that leak is from the thermostat hose connection. It runs down the hose and drops off from the pump housing which leads to a false diagnosis. Work a long shaft screwdriver in there or a socket on a long extension. Rarely you'll have to tip the radiator forward.

Well if everything above does not correct your problem...
There is a weep hole at the lower rear of the coolant pump.  If your leak is there, it means that an internal seal in the pump is bad, and unfortunately the entire pump must be replaced.  I had that condition on my '98 Tourer two years ago.
