Brothers and Sisters,

Someone made a remark the other day that stuck with me and I wanted to make sure we are clear on the third Saturday of the month get togethers. I wanted to set up a set time, third Saturday, as a goal to make sure we tried to get together all year, thus making our group stronger and closer. Plus easier to plan ahead for everyone. I think that is working.

However, this was never intended to limit or restrict any other ride, or get together, anytime someone wants to put one together. So if you have a ride you want to do, or you wanted to just go to lunch somewhere put it out here. Anytime is okay, and welcome, as well. We are NOT restricted to the third Saturday as the only time we can get together!

I also do not consider my self the "final answer" person as a State Representative. I see myself as an information guy, if I have any, and a helper when it comes to putting things together, but really I have no power what so ever. If we can't come to a democratic type decision on something then, yeah I guess I weigh in and make it. Hopefully I choose the "centrally located" decision that everyone can work with. I love this group like a family and I have worked behind the scenes at times trying to mend feelings and defuse some situations, just like any family. I just want to see us grow in numbers and fun, so I try to promote that. I know we can not always agree on everything, nor should we! But hopefully in the end we all stay friends and work together for the betterment of our group.

I know for a fact that our Kansas group is well known in the VRCC and quite honestly the envy of a lot of states. You guys and gals do that when you show up and when you get involved. Last month's get together at Carl and Lori's was a prime example! Here's my thought, you have a community project going on for a worthy cause throw it out here! Maybe it is something that several us could get involved with. Doesn't have to be a "poker run" , although those can be fun, it might be working on a habit house, or a trip to Oklahoma to assist with their recovery, or anyone of a number of events!

I also thought about trying to set up some "regional" rides each year. We have four connecting states what if we tried to setup a regional get together with our Brothers and Sisters in other states. Example, say we contact the Nebraska folks and setup a get together somewhere along the border, either in Nebraska or Kansas. We could maybe do one a year, or try it out and see how it works out. It could be simple and meet for lunch, or even an overnight to do some exploring in other locations. What do you guys think? Or maybe we could just get together and crash one of their rides they are having!! All kinds of rides occur almost every weekend. Let me know what you think.

I have a tendency to over think situations and things, too many hours sitting on trains doing nothing, so then you all get the benefits as I let you in on the voices in my head.  Shocked Yes, Joe that is my only emotion com! I tired to go cold turkey I just didn't have it in me, I'll strive to do better! ROFL!
