Fork oxyidization
«

I noticed a bit of dissimilar metal oxidization occurring where the stainless steel bands of my windshield wrap around the aluminum fork tube.
I removed the bands and cleaned up oxidization the best that I could, but some permanent damage has been done to the aluminum.
I put some dielectric grease on the tubes where the bands go, and then reassembled everything.
Is there something else that would be better to use to stop, or slow the corrosion?

You might try to put clear packing tape under the straps before installing. Steel straps over aluminum tubes in a humid environment require more preventative maintenance.
