It was not damaged.  It had about 5400 miles on the service interval from JUST before GOTF.  It did NOT have any final drive oil in there, but there was still grease.

We greased it up again, and put her back together... ready for Inzane.  and our trip around Lake Superior.

I guess we just have to accept the fact with the final drives that some will and some won't............   Grease them up.......     it drives me nuts that the differences between those that will and those that won't have eluded discovery.............  What really surprises me that some of them do.......

Just a thought--what if you were to drill the "bleed hole" out just a little bit?  Think it would help?

I don't think it'd help.  They were not clogged.  and I PROMISE that every one I have done has been SQUEAKY clean.  I take them apart, and clean them in a parts washer, or the sink...  or somewhere.  I remove every trace of grease or oil before I start over the next time.

it drives me nuts that the differences between those that will and those that won't have eluded discovery.............  What really surprises me that some of them do.......

I seem to have one of each... however, my STD has been ok up till the last time...  Roll Eyes  I still need to tear it apart too... but dang... i can only get to so much so fast...  Undecided Cry

I'll get the STD tore apart again.  When I did the IS it was SLOPPY wet with final drive oil.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

THAT should be taken up with your doctor and not the tech board.  crazy2

Jabba, weren't you experimenting with 1-1/2 ounce overfill with oil lube? Or was that someone else? Would like to hear a report on the results whoever it was.

It was us...

It did not make any oil get into Squealy's pinion cup.

We have not taken mine apart again yet.
