Aut viam inveniam aut faciam.

A few weeks ago I created a "Follow-me" page on Spotwalla.com. Its a fun way to visualize where InZane participants are coming from and where they're going. Great for family or friends at home, or as  documentation of your trip.  It will be live July 12 through July 22.
If you want to participate, the password to join is: InZane13; case sensitive. (If that PW does not work use InZaneXIII; also case sensitive).
If you just want to observe you don't need a PW. Here is a link to the page: https://spotwalla.com/locationViewer.php?id=165
At this point it will show that there are no messages because its not live.
If you want to participate you need a tracking device like a Spot Messenger or a GPS app on your cell phone. Bubbler GPS is a good one for Android phones. You will also need to register your device on the Spotwalla website. Easy and secure. Once you register you can create your own personal page if you want.
To navigate to the InZane13 location page, go to the Spotwalla home page and clik on the drop down box, then clik on "Active/Future location pages". From there you will see the InZaneXIII link.
Ultimately, I'd like to create a video like this one which shows the 2013 Iron Butt Rally riders progress as they converged on their "Ground Zero" last week:

See you all soon in La Crosse.

JoeP

If you have problems registering or want further info, drop me a PM or email.

The Location Page for InZane XIII is now active.

It will deactivate on July 28th.

That should be plenty of time to accommodate any participants or observers.
Since at this point I am the only one registered as a participant, when you navigate to the page,  you will see my location and activities because I will leave the GPS location service on my phone on. As others join we will all be able to follow each other.
Following me is not going to be very exciting but since I will be traveling to Madison WI for the 4th you will get an idea of what you can see including what hole I'm at on the Golf Course!
BTW, there are security settings to hide certain info from others.

Have fun and if you need info let me know.

There are a number of participants who have registered but are not showing up on our map.

Remember: You may need to take a look at your preferences when you set things up.

Here is a quote from the Spotwalla setup guide:

Location ID
"Your location ID is used to mark your location icon on location pages you choose to join as well as the Device Location Widget. This value may be overridden when joining a location page.
Click the Update button after making any changes."

If you have any difficulties let me know and I'll help if I can.

Joe P

p.s. Remember to check the settings on your Smartphone or other locating device.

Spotwalla users:
There are a couple of participants who are not showing up on our map.
Remember to populate the default "location ID" field in your preferences; three characters max. Then click on "update". Due to the heavy usage of Iron Butt Rally observers (over 400,000) it may take a minute or so before your changes are actually saved.
Once that is done you will be visible.

If you navigate your phone to "Google Play" you should be able to download "Bubbler GPS"
If you are able to do that then all thats left to do is register your phone, they call it a device, on Spotwalla.com.
Once you do that you will be able to join the InZane map: https://spotwalla.com/locationViewer.php?id=165

If you have difficulty send me a PM and I'll be happy to help.
