I need a new windshield for my 1999 Tourer. I have seen a few past reports on poor quality of the new OEM winshields. Has anyone bought the Hondaline windshield recently that could report on the quality? I would appreciate any recommendation for a alternative/aftermarket winshield.

When my OEM went to crap I got a Clearview with the vent. Easier to take care of.

It has been three years since I purchased the last OEM so I can't tell you for sure what the OEM quality is today. When I bought my first standard in 2000 I installed an oem and the quality was excellent. Lasted 10 years no problems other than normal pits after 150K. Decided to replace it. First replacement started peeling (lexan) at about 6 months. Honda (HDL) warrantied that one. Second lasted less than three months and peeled. Honda must have changed manufacturers at some point down the line. Bought a clearview and have never looked back.

Clearview is the way to go. The Hondaline is prone to having the coating come off.
Clearview says their shields are "high impact acrylic blend".
Get the vent when you get one.

the OEM replacement glass runs 260.00 or so plus shipping from Honda direct clearview has a xmas sale every year and they cost reg price 206.00 on sale for 74.00 bucks or so

I bought my standard Valkyrie last fall and it had some kind of after market windshield on it, the coating was starting to come off and too tall to see over so I decided to replace it. I went with a National Cycle switchblade setup, the chopped version that I can look over and I love it, along with the Rifle lowers it all works out good for me. Good quality, comes off quick and easy and looks pretty darned nice too.

Clearview! This shield is thicker than the OEM, well made, and less expensive. What he said!!! I'm VERY happy with my clearview - better, thicker, and stronger than stock..only have about 1000 miles with it so far...I got the one 2 inches taller than stock. Clearview is a good choice. |
