Winona is a short hop from Lacrosse. Hand-built replica ships Pinta, Nina to arrive in Winona next week.

I saw these and was amazed that they crossed the ocean in such small ships.

OK not a boat or history but a place I liked:
Elmers is kinda cool, cheap and even has toys and dolls. He is open on some weekends and has signs up (a van I think on 35). Do not expect a formal type setup, sheds with cool cars, no photos allowed. A lot of pedal cars. I would follow the link and call before making the short trip up there.
