My right fork has a bad leak. I tried my Seal Mate... with no luck.

I've replaced the seals before, but it's been a long time ago. I can't remember everything I need to order to finish the job. Anyone have the part numbers of what I need?

I went to HDL's site, but for some reason I can't get to the Valkyrie Store..... it looks like it's changed. Maybe I'm just having a "senior moment".

Ya, HDL is having some sort of technical glitch tonight, it seems.
Meanwhile, here's another place to see the pic and get the part numbers:

Maybe give the sealmate trick a second try-both of mine were leaking and the sealmate method did work.I removed the front fender and worked it around a few times(it gets slippery but can be done) Then get on the bike and hold the front brake while pumping the front end up and down about 10 times or so.Worked for me-Good Luck!

make sure u have 360 degree access which means removal of fender and fork shields, this is what I had to do using the film trick. 15k later still no leakage.

Here is my list: (this is replacement of all wear parts, not just seals.  Why do a complete tear-off without a complete rebuild?)  Used to be about $120, don't know today.

51435-KZ3-701        Ring, piston                       one
91356-KZ3-003        O-rings (44.7 X 2.4)            two
91254-KZ3-003        Dust seal                           two
51490-MW0*-003     Seal set, front fork              two
51412-KZ3-003        Ring, back-up                      two
51414-MT7-003        Bushing, guide                    two
51415-MCH-003        Bushing, slider                    two
51517-MZ0*-003      Rubber, stopper                   one

*these two zeros, could be D's..... my electronic copy of parts list is a bit fuzzy

Thanks for the link.
When I went to the HDL site, I was looking for the page that was just Valk stuff... (with pics). It's been a while since I've been there. Didn't know if they changed the site or it was a glitch.

Gordon & CA:

I tried the Seal Mate with the fork shield removed, but not the fender. It was hard to go 360* around the fork. I'll try again this evening with the fender removed.

Thanks!

Welcome Bugs.  Listen, do like in the Sealmate video.  Saw back and forth all the way round, then bounce the front forks as hard as you can (I could not do it standing beside the bike, had to get on the bike/boards and the sidestand and do it).  Then do it again.  I see no reason to pull the fender.

I have cured mine several times, but one slider is still damp.  One of these days I'll have to do the whole tear-off thing. All parts in a bag waiting for that day.  I will take the forks off and take them to a guy who knows what he is doing.

After my last ride, the front of my bike was covered with oil... So it's a pretty good leak.

As soon as it cools down this evening, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

If one of your seals has a chunk out of it, and it's not just dirt/crud, then this won't fix that.

It leaks liberally when using the cleaner, but if you find particular spot that leaks more, that may be a sign of a seal defect.

I'm beginning to lean towards a chunk. I've used the Seal Mate a few more times..... pumping my forks several pumps each time. I'm fixin to get some gas, and I'll see how it looks.
Thanks.

In reference to the parts list posted earlier, I think the seal set may include the dust seal.  I can't remember for sure since I haven't replaced them for a while.  I also have a PDF of the 'easy' seal replacement method if you're interested.

Having just replace my fork seals, the seal pack from HD (OEM Honda seals) does contain the dust shield.

I have replace my seals twice in 50K miles with out replacing the other parts.  They will have to be replaced next time.

Well, I'm pretty dang amazed with the Seal Mate. I took a 200 mile test ride after going over the seals again. I expected the front of the bike to be covered with oil (again).... it doesn't look like it leaked a drop. I've checked it daily, and it continues to remain clean and dry.

I have parts for a rebuild on the way, but I'm going to hold off for now, it looks good. I'll hang on to the parts for later cooldude

Bugs, that's how it was for me last year.  This year I started getting a bit of wet/damp oil on the sliders, and did it again.  Was dry for two months, but now I have a little oil moisture all the time... never a drop runs off.  Forks are functioning good as ever.  I have all my parts too... just putting off the inevitable I guess.  Did a 1200 mile trip, no problem.  We'll see.
