Hello.I would like to know where the best source to purchase a universal joint is.I have been having a noise from underneath that sounds like a bird chirping as I coast down in any gear that stops if I pull in the clutch.U-joint is my best guess, but any advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The U-joint still rotates when you pull in the clutch, so it could be something else causing the noise.  I haven't had mine fail, but in a 4 wheeled vehicle I had with a bad U-joint the sympton was vibration when accelerating.

+1 on the bearing.  I replaced my clutch a while back and it is not that difficult to remove the cover to get to the bearing.  Not a fun job but not as bad as I expected.

sounds like a bird chirping

Majority of times this is a symptom of a bad vacuum line.

I just received a new U-joint and boot . I ordered mine from Eastern Speed Equipment as they had the best total on-line cost for the rear brake reservoir cover I broke off, the u-joint and the rubber boot. Get one while they are in stock. I only needed to replace the chrome cover but I use all the free freight I can get.  My bike only has 30K miles but I plan to roll it a while. My next speculative purchase will be an alternator.

I just looked at the link above and they have a good price on the joint. It is found in the swing arm assembly parts fish.

A universal u-joint is not available for the Valkyrie, it is none replaceable. But it has been done. There is a post about it, maybe 1-1 1/2 years ago, when you couldn't get one for love or $.

Search is your friend. I think you might find it easier under CRV.

The U joint is connected to the drive shaft, the drive shaft is connected to the final drive, the final drive is connected to the wheel....Think about it, If the joint continued to rotate with the clutch pulled wouldnt everything that is connected to it continue to rotate?  Just sayin

I didnt notice he was talking about coasting and pulling in the clutch.........my bad about it rotating or not, but its under different torque pressure when coasting compared to under power, that could make a difference
