I got back from IZ on Friday, parked the bike.  Went out this morning and got on the bike.  I noticed that I was having a hard time finding neutral while the engine running.  I had NO problems while I was on the 2300+ mile ride to and from IZ.  I ride to work and ask Jabba to look at it.  we go out and fire her up and the same thing, it's almost impossible to get it in to neutral with the engine running.  It also sound wierd.  I have include a link to ta youtube video.  This sound is while the the bike is idling with clutch  lever out....

I hope it is not the clutch damper plate coming apart.  Does the clutch lever have full travel?

What does it sound like with the bike in gear?  I assume the sound you are referring to is the intermittent knocking?

pull the alternator when you do the clutch, it sure makes the job easier!

I did my clutch last yr , its not bad but hard to get the clutch pack lined up in the basket  just right to fit back in the tranny . took 5 tries to get it perfectly lined up , that is with using a press to relieve spring tension each time . I did cuss !

I did my clutch back in 02 w 56K on her.  Been another 60K on her.  Not a bad job but what Regis says is right, getting the plates lined up correctly was a job.  Also, an impact driver is good to have.

There's a lock washer I re-used, but if I ever do it again, I'll get a new one.

Do you have the clutch tools that are recommended to remove and replace it?  If so, may i borrow them?

you really just need an impact driver and socket to knock the big nut loose, i didn't have access so i slid a pipe on the ratchet and whacked it with a hammer.

That's all I used.  I didn't have a metric socket big enough, so I used one from my buddies truck shop.  For some reason, 1+1/4" sticks in my head as the size, but don't quote me, it was 11 years ago.
