I know a standard Valkyrie uses a 9003 bulb. With dual headlights what does the interstate use? How often do you replace them? Thanks Eddie

The standard and Tourer use a 9003 (or H4) 60W high/55W low. It's a very common bulb. The Interstate uses a Honda proprietary bulb with lower wattage (45/45). The plug is the same but the locating tabs are different. It is also used on the 1500 Wings and ST models. It costs about $25 or $30 at a Honda dealer and I've never seen it anywhere else. Some owners just cut the tabs off an H4 bulb to make it fit, and there are adapter rings available online.

You can use the 9003 bulbs in the IS...you just have to cut off the bottom two tabs. There used to be an adapter plate you could get...but I haven't ever used one. Aim is good. I run the Silverstar bulbs. Love them.

I replaced the bulbs in my IS with H4 60 watt bulbs, and am not happy. The low beams are great, tons of light but lower on the road than I would like and the high beams are so high that they are useless. I have the shims somewhere and will install them when I find them. I think the shims pull the bulbs back so they work normally in the reflectors in the IS headlight buckets. I'll let you know when I make the change, Fred.

I have the Silver stars in my IS, with the adapters and they have worked out great for me. You will find that as these bulbs age they do lose some of their brightness. Shortleg[Dave]

Does any one have a link to where the adapters can be ordered?
I'm having the same issue with my interstate.. the low beams are great just not far enough out and the highs are in the trees!
Also does any one have suggestions for fog/drive lights for the interstate? My radiator covers don't appear to be set up for the small, round, OEM ones....

You can get the shims at http://www.electricalconnection.com/non-electrical/h4_shim.htm$12.95/pair You have to modify (cut) your pods for the fog lamps, if you can find a set. I've seen them for $500+, but never in stock. I've looked for ages and have never gotten lucky. I have a set of Powersports Multi-fit Bracket System PIAA mini spots http://www.amazon.com/automotive/dp/B000WJJBQI that I will likely mount on the wind deflectors I got from flask (member, look him up).. Different deflectors, but something like this... Fred.
