Can't be there, but what are the problems? Not many starters go out. It's most likely an old battery that won't hold a full charge. (Low Voltage)

Push starts fine. Starter will not turn over. Headlight is gone out. I think it's due to no relay on the driving lights.

Sounds like a bad battery.

I'm in Lafayette with a good volt meter if you have time to stop by.

Unfortunately, I don't think I have a battery that'll work for ya... auto zone MAY have something that will work, but it'll be a lead acid that has to sit overnight (acid has to be put in batter after purchase).

That was my guess.  If it push starts, should be the starter switch.  He just had some driving lights wired in thru the low beam headlight.  No relay was used.
Hope it is the starter switch and gets fixed easily.

My bet is the starter button.

I've fixed a couple of them and can help out if you need me.

I'm 10 miles east of Baton Rouge.

I'm thinking its the switch. Got referred to a mechanic that owns a Valk he's looking at it this morning.

I'd do some wiring changes while you are at it.  Just from a redundancy aspect, I'd power the auxiliary lights from a different circuit.  That way, if you ever lose your headlight/starter switch circuit again, you'd still have forward lights to get you to a safe place to make repairs.

Thanks to Marcus for spending some time on the phone last night walking me through a few things. Got hooked up with someone this morning and got the bike repaired. He put on a temporary starter switch and also put in a relay circuit for the lights to avoid that problem in the future.  Should be good to go for the time being. Will be having to get a new starter switch and replace that at some point but at least the relays in for the lights so that's a done deal.

Got back on the road this afternoon. Got down the river a good ways and ended up in Thibodeaux for the night. Will be heading back to the river for a while tomorrow before angling over to Morgan city tomorrow and then continuing on to the Delcambre area.

Glad you got her going and back on your trip.  The relay is THE way to go.  Enjoy your ride!
