I am trying to find out what the 10 mm allen headed plug is on the bottom of the block on the left front corner behind the housing on the block that the lower radiator hose hooks up to.

Welcome to the club.
I just went out to look, and I think it's the drain for the coolant pump. Others may know better.

I changed my oil for the first time and thought that it was the oil drain plug. It would be a great place for one since it is on the down hill side when the bike is on the stand. It looked like oil came out but there wasn't much.

For heaven's sake man....get a shop manual. The oil drain is a large hex plug under the right side more towards the rear. To drain the cooling system there is a 10mm hex plug on the bottom of the water pump.

Are you saying the allen wrench is 10 mm? If so, that plug is not to be removed unless you're doing a complete teardown for a rebuild.

Thanks for all the help. I have been doing a lot of reading but mosly about carbs. I did try and download one shop manual but afterward my pc said that the zip file was corrupt or something. It was kind of a suuden decision to change the oil and I am glad that I did. I smelled like fuel pretty bad. I did google the right after pulling the wrong plug but sometimes it is hard to be humble enough to look up such basic info after wrenching for a living for over 30 years. Most oil sump drains are in the bottom of the sump. Just concerned that I might have drained out something that needs to be put back in and my wife wants me to take her for a ride this weekend.

The oil drain is under the dipstick and obvious. The bike needs to be pulled/stood to the right to get all/most of the oil out. It takes 4 qts. When checking oil level, bike upright and dipstick NOT screwed in.

Here's what it looks like from the inside.  It looks like an access point to drill one of the oil passages between the pump and the filter.

Are you saying that the oil smelled like fuel pretty bad or just you?
If it was the oil then you have another issue going on.
Let us know.
