What they found was a mass in her left ventricle. They don't think it's cancerous, but they don't know for sure yet. She has had a coupple hemangioma's on her skin in the past, but both were deemed non cancerous and removed. They think this one is largly calcium. I guess it's a pretty rare occurance, and they sday that MOST of the time, when they are discovered, it's during an autopsy.
Maia's Mom was laying in bed with her, and she started coughing and turned blue. Mom called 911 immediately, and I guess EMS was there within 2 minutes. Lucky Mom was in the room with her, and lucky EMS was so close and had such a quick response. They had her ventilated very quickly, and everyone thinks that she was not without O2 very long. Everyone is very optimistic about that.
They are going to give her a couple days to get a little stronger, and then they are going to do an exploratory cath to determine the best treatment option, which they believe will be to remove the mass surgically. They anticipate a delicate surgery to accomplish this.
The doctors at Riley are some of the best in the world, and even so... they may send her to Mayo. Just not SURE yet.
I'll let ya'll know if anything changes.
Thank you for your support. As many of you know... it means a lot. I believe that there is a lot of power that moves thru us that we don't fully understand. If for you that's an expression of a Christian God, I recognize that, but I accept other philosophies as well. I am humble enough to admit that I don't KNOW how it works... only that it does. Having many people focus their prayers and energy seems to help.
Thank you.

Haven't read the board for a few days due to working on my Valk in prep for CO-trip and saw this. I'm praying for proper treatment/surgery and quick, full recovery for Maia. God bless her and her family through this experience.
