Sudden drop in fuel mileage
«

Just in the last few weeks my gas mileage has dropped dramatically on my 02 Valk. I usually get 31 - 33 mpg in town or at 70+, or 35 - 37 cruising at 50 - 65 or so, but suddenly I've dropped to about 25 - 26 mpg all the time. I found a broken vacuum hose and repaired it, but no change. Can anyone give me some ideas? I just recently put in new plugs, and run some carb cleaner in the gas once in a while. I have a K&N air filter, 6 into 6 pippes, and a Dyna 3000 on setting 4.

Why did the hose break ? If it was from age all of the hoses are in the same condition and need changing. You say you repaired the break, are you sure ?
Replacement is the best action for the hose.

Sounds like you got a serious vacuum leak.
I'd change all those little hoses on the carbs and into the 'T' fittings and etc.
I change mine out about every 2 or 3 years......

You ought to go ahead and do a complete de-smog. Never have to worry about bad hoses anymore. Add a Pingle to get rid of the #6 hose.

I would check the fuel valve the valve can leak and not look as though anything is wrong, also putting the dyna to setting 7 would help

Is there a link somewhere on how to do the total de-smog? Other than that I guess I need to dig in and check all the hoses I can find. The one I found was broken right where it made a sharp bend onto the fitting.
I was just wondering what else I should check? Other than the vacuum hoses I'm guessing have the carbs checked and syched and maybe the valves adjusted. The thing is - it runs great, just the mileage is dropping.
