So we get coming home yest evening and I discover 'no headlite' Searched here today and did the start switch cleanup etc and all seems ok there. Has power to the blue/white wire at the start switch. No power to headlite at plug. Any ideas?? Thanks.

This may sound odd, but I've been running a Silverstar Ultra, and three times now I've blown the low beam element, but the high beam is still alive.
Have you tried this?

Sometimes it take me a couple of times to get that damn start switch to behave after cleaning it up.
I'd take it apart again and work it and see if you can get the light to come on before you reassemble the rest of it. Just a couple weeks ago I was doing this very thing (Long story that begins with the hi beam indicator light burning out and ends in the Twilight Zone) with the start switch. Double checked before assembly and worked fine, assembled it and didn't work and had to take it apart again, adjust the contacts and put it back together.
4 times. Finally.
Works better than it ever did now.
My experience is it can be cursed stubborn.
Maybe it's a bulb or a fuse.
I'd still bet on the start switch.

My brothers standard/tourer had a similar headlight issue and he tracked it down to a faulty ground. Hope this be of some help for you. RIDE SAFE.

I've blown the low beam element on regular 55/60 H4s many times. The low beams in my newer 80/100 off road H4s are still working (about a year).

Would one of you guys mind posting a link to the start switch clean up? I've noticed my low beam not working occasionally. Then I'll turn on the high, and its fine.. The next time I fire it up both work.. Has happened at last three times recently. Thanks Jeff

sounds like a ground problem , but could be a supply problem . Voltmeters and a little bit of thought goes along way . I know a voltmeter can be a little troubling to someone who has never used 1 but they are cheap and can be the best tool you'll ever buy .

I've had an issue with the high/low beam switch on the left handle bar. Essentially the same contamination that can exist in the starter switch. Check the voltage on the blue and white wires leading to your head lamp socket.

Mizzouguy, spray some contact cleaner on each side of the Hi/low beam switch (without taking it apart) and click it back and forth a bunch. Worked for me. Fred.
