...Got to do something not many dads get a chance to do...went for a little ride with both of my sons Aaron and Bryan...and all three of us on Valk's...

...It was their first time over the Big Mac Bridge on a Bike...and yes it was on the grating with a lite mist of rain and wind...but they handled it great....

...sure was a good time and nice to see this in my mirror's...

...just like when the boys where little...always showing off...

...rode up to White Fish point on Tuesday 45* out didn't stay long...

...next day was bright and sunny 72* did the ride I'm planning for St. Ignace...

...that's me down on the board walk at the lighthouse...them boys where sore all week from the walk up that spiral stairs ....

...both bikes got a  tattoo on the side covers ...I like it....

I have has the good fortune to share rides a number of times with my three sons. Three Valks and one Pacific Coast.  The last was up in the UP too. However, I cheated that time.  I trailered the Valk, my sons rode.

I won't soon forget watching my son,Chris,  Psychotic Bovine, riding the grated lane of Big Mac and holding a camera in his left hand to take a picture  down through the grates.  I gotta dig out that pic.

I know some people who would turn back, they are petrified of grated bridges.

Myself I love riding them, going into Canada one year with a RIP buddy, he wanted to turn around, told him we had reservations for the evening and it was too late to cancel.

He finally was willing to follow me across, we started out rather slow, and were getting moved all around, told him to pick it up and that wouldn't happen.

I finally got him up to about 40 MPH and he loved it.   I think we went over the Big Mac about 8 or 9 times after that, with no problems.

1 year we were going to a Rally in Sault St Marie, we came over the bridge with trailers and got pulled over & given a butt chewin for running too fast.  NO tickie, but had a sore butt foa a few days.

Hey, I've a picture sort of like that, but I was on the concrete.

Then they closed the right lane.

Mama wasn't pleased.

Lot's of Michigan riders won't go over it...every year we get first timers on our St. Ignace ride...I've been over it on the bike in the rain, wind, snow,sleet...on grating and on pavement...last year for the Valhalla Voyage the escort truck led us across the drive put his hand to his head like a gun and said we where nuts that it was better just to shoot us and get it over with...45-55 mph winds with cold sloppy rain

remember RJ ..if your coming this way give Devl and I a holler ...

Really nice pics Rtaz.   I'm looking forward to crossing the bridge again, this time in the Miata with the top down.

Seems to me that the right lane is always closed for maintenance.  It has been every time that I've been up there.

they are always working on that Bridge...this time they are working under the grating...it scared the crap out of me when we crossed over just before the end of the grating and we where getting back to cement a jack hammer let loose under us...wooo that makes you ride higher in the seat.....

That's great R-Taz. I enjoyed the times well all rode together, Dad and my brothers. Its not to many times fathers and sons can do that. As you know I rode to TN last year following and sometimes leading dad in the Miata. Was a great time. We wont be able to make it up there this year. That is the weekend me and Chris are riding to London Ontario to see Chrome. Maybe next year.....
