I live about 45 minutes west of hiladelphia and thank youhave a 97 tour that needs front fork work and also rear wheel bearing work. The local shop will do the work but didn't seem happy to work on the lady and tol me i would be charged significantly. Wow, that's never good. I just want to get out and ride my fat lady
Any suggestions please send my way

Just a couple stray thoughts. Maybe the local dealer will charge you significantly because they have no clue about how to pull the rear wheel without dropping the exhausts. And on a Tourer or Interstate, they'll charge you more for pulling the bags.
If you have a little time, do a search on the tech board and Shop Talk and read about how it's done by removing the shocks and raising the swingarm(while the bike is up on a lift).
Even if you have the shop change out the bearings and do your fork work, you can probably save a lot of money if you're a little bit tech saavy and remove the forks and rear wheel yourself and hand carry them to the shop.
You also didn't give much info to go on. How old is your bike and how many miles are on it? Why do you suspect it needs fork and rear bearing work? Is a fork simply leaking or do you want to change out the springs with Progressives? And is your bike not handling properly or are you hearing a growl in the rear end? It could need a rear end checkup/regrease etc.
