I figured with all of us craving up the rural twistys of central Florida surely someone would point out a few acres of used farm equipment.

There is a place on the SW corner of I-4 and US 75 that has farm implements piled near the fence facing 75 with "For Sale" signs on the stuff. I bought a 6' blade from him a number of years back and back them he had a yard full of different odds and ends. I recall a few cutaways and other parts laying around. You may want to take a look and see if the number is still up on the fence or take the next exit south and find your way back in from the secondary road.

I know that place, about 1/4 mile from me. If you get off I-4 at 579, go south to the intersection of US92, turn right. Then go west about 1 1/2 mile to Williams rd turn right again, you cross over I-4 and it is the first drive on the right. Sits down in a low place, all kinds of critters there. If you are not in a big rush, I will stop by and see what he has.

i google earthed it and could actually see the sign! Called him, and he said he had 3 of them. 2 were on a watermelon plow and one was just mounted to a plate... how much? $100... for one of them! Well it was a good lead. Thanks

Also, if you know someone who can straighten the L steel frame on a cutaway, share the contact details with me please. My pops backed the tractor into a tree and bent the support frame on the cutaway and I can't find a shop with a press or a frame strong enough to set the support frame on to get leverage to either bend the end back up or push the hump down and flatten the arm out so it's level again!

Jeff, where do you live? I work at a large farm near Immokalee, that's in the Naples area. We rebuild our discs about once a year. Right now we are running 5 of them. I think there are some used blades in the scrap pile. I'll check if tomorrow and give you and answer.

Jeff, I'm not sure what you are using the blade for other than a cooker. I have an old one that is just over 24", but being used it's very thin and sharp on the edge. (think sharp enough to slice the tip of the sole of your boot if you spin the gang with your foot). You may want to trim or grind the edge if you are planing to weld along the edge. On the other hand I also have a scalloped edge blade that is about 30" in dia. on the outside. At the bottom of the scallops it's 26". It's at least a 3" deep dish. It is about 40# and never used but still rusty from sitting around for about 8 years. You are welcome to either one or both if you need them. I'm going to be in Lakeland on the 21st. of Sept. for a gun show if that helps with picking it up. Let me know what you are thinking. Give a call if you want. My cell number is 239-six four one-5772

I will be at the same gun show. So we could meet then. Depending on how thin thin is... Either is fine.

I've made probably 10 of those over the years. I have used the 24" blades with good results. They are great for fish fries. If I needed a little more depth in one I have added a narrow strip of flat bar welded on edge around the outside. A 1" long piece of 8" pipe works well for a base when welded to the bottom of the disc. If you like I'll cut you a piece of 8 or 10" pipe and bring it along. Keep my cell number and call me a week before the show just to remind me to bring the stuff up and I'll see you there. Jeff

Hey Jeff, after looking around in the back yard today I found an almost new (but rusty) 26" blade. Would you rather have that? If it were me I'd use it instead of the 24". Are you still planning on going to the show?

Jeff I'm going to be bringing my tribe and though my granddaughter loves riding, my newly acquired grandson (son just got married) will not get on a bike. So I will be in my truck. I planned on just bringing my bike and trailer, but looks like the Ford instead. Jeff

It looks great. Glad you like it. If you use it as a deep frier with an inch or so of oil in it, I found that the fish or fries slide back into the oil while draining on the edge. To stop that from happening I built up some spot welds with the wire machine about one inch in from the edge of the blade. There're about a quarter inch high and may be four inches apart. Have one with the spot welds and one without. Eat well.
