May have bit off more than I can chew here. Got a shiny desmog kit from redeye. Was told "follow the instructions, they're good." I got the tank and airbox off...and I'm LOST. PANIC MODE! Things don't look like they should under there. Maybe a previous desmog attempt? Instruction say "remove 4 intake manifolds". OK WTF are intake manifolds? Is there a picture/diagram somewhere to help me ID this stuff? Is there anybody in the Rochester, NY area who would be willing to come over and guide me? I'll buy gas, beer, narcotics, WHATEVER! Here is a pic of what I see under the airbox. Please help me...please :'(

VERY helpful. Thank you. Don't know why I couldn't find those. Looks like somebody did a "semi" desmog already. Guess I'll have to forge ahead and make it up as I go along. It doesn't help that I have BIG hands...lol.

Actually its pretty easy....

I there is a vacuum line attached to it..... remove it!

LOL... On a full desmog the only thing left is the vacuum line from #6 to the petcock .....

The shiny kit should plug the holes in the Cylinder head......

Put a manual pingle on it and you can completely get rid of those pesky lines.

The pictures in shop talk will surely help.  I removed the hoses that go to the carb bowl drains.  It is the small manifold with 6 hoses going into one that goes behind the engine and out the bottom near the swing arm.  It is in the bottom right side of your picture near where the large vacuum hose connects to the manifold that is bolted to the top of the engine.

Some people leave those connected, but I liked the clean look better and if I need to, I will connect hoses to the drains when needed.

Did you get her licked?

I thought it was pretty easy with the redeye directions... even though some of the terminology was hard to understand.

We have 2 more desmogs to do very soon too.

Back together and running rather well considering. MUCH less popping on decel. Idle still not right but better. Time for a carb synch.
