The beatings will continue until morale improves

« on: August 27, 2013, 07:24:04 AM »

I know Willow, Rob, and Brian ride to work almost every day here in Kansas, is there anyone else?

I have been putting about 200 miles a week on just riding to and from work, and it is amazing this year.  I really like how nice and mild this year has been for riding.

I was thinking on my way in to work this morning, "I hope everyone with a motorcycle is able to ride to work and watch the sun come up like I am"

The official reason is it is cheaper to operate all the way around than the dodge... the real reason is, that dodge only needs to move to haul kids, supplies, and get around in the snow... the rest of the time i want to be on the bike.

First post - nice board!   cooldude  I've been lurking since I got the Beast.

Started a new job 1 Aug., and have bike commuted exclusively so far, mostly on the Oldwing.

68 miles each way.  Old job was 4 miles each way, big difference, now I can't get home for a nooner.

So far, so good as far as the weather and Hampton Roads area traffic goes.

My biggest problem is leaving my dark shades behind and the afternoon sun gets me going South.
Love seeing the sun come up in the morning though!

Nobody needs to explain why the Valkyrie gets fewer mpg when my bride isn't on the back.
I've got that ALL figured out.

Welcome to the asylum Earl!  You're gonna like it here.... no really....
Good to see you are riding when you can.
Ride Safe Brother.
I ride most days, when the rain forecast is <40% chance.  I don't mind getting wet on the way home, just don't want to sit at my desk drippin'....

It's been a tough Summer.  I haven't ridden to work since May.  My commute was 120 miles round trip.

Before May I was a PMT rider (Primary Means of Transportation) meaning that if there wasn't ice or snow, there was no great load to be hauled it was the Valkyrie that would take me where I needed to go.

Time will pass, but I will always remember the Summer I missed.

You will be back in the saddle in no time.  Since I found out you are almost as old as me, you probly ought to take the car once in a while.  I don't ride at night anymore, unless I have to, due to failing night vision.  Ride the tires off in the daytime, though.  Cheesy  Hoser
