I would love to, I aprec the offer, I do have two friends that are going, but my next time off is in October.

I will be going to Colorado then, but the decision on which bike to ride may be a tough one.

Leaning toward riding the Valk because the one friend I am going with is riding one, but then again his Dad is in Colorado for the summer and we will meet him there, and he rides a GL1800.

I need to go on a long haul with a Valk at least once I know many of you do it.

Congrats on getting the Valk.

There will probably be a few of us joining that group when it hit AZ.  I'll be meeting up with them in Holbrook.  Be staying at the Wigwam motel which the last time I spoke with them still had some Wigwams available for the September 12th date.

Last weekend I did the Scottsdale to Park City Utah trip.  Stayed off the freeways and took 89 up most all the way.  Great ride and the right time to be in cooler Park City.  About 1600 miles round trip from Scottsdale.

The last weekend in September is the Standing on the Corner in Winslow AZ festival.  Again we stay in Holbrook which is only 30 miles away but attend the street parties in Winslow on Friday and Saturday night.  While in Winslow don't forget the La Posada resort.  Great place to visit or do a meal.  I occassionally run up to Canyon De Chelly while up in that area.  It's 250 mile round trip from Holbrook.

Earlier this year we did the Catalina Highway ride in Tucson.  That is a great ride.  Of course there's Jerome and Sedona via 89A out of Prescott best done late in October to take advantage of the Fall colors along Oak Creek Canyon. Williams to the Grand Canyon.  For a real challange do the Devils Highway ( route 191) from Safford up to Eagar.  One of the most technically challanging runs in the country.

Anyway hope you enjoy the power, torque and smoothness of the Valk.  I've enjoyed all the smooth miles I put on my 99 Interstate.

Thanks sure Rub it in Black is what I wanted, but this is growing on me. It looks better in person.

And hey I cant beat the Miles 5,500 miles she is brand new. Even both Manuals, tools it came with are brand spankin new.

The original owner sold it to this guy I bought it off of, The guy I bought it off of gave me original bill of sale and all paperwork. He only put 1k on it after purchased it.

Wow this guy has some cool toys too, his house you can shoot a BB gun and not hit the ceiling.

He has old antique cars and a garage to drool over.

Even his own winery in back yard, and a pool that the water disappears is falls off the edge.

then tonight we  met at the elephant bar for dinner , so that  he could have the title notarized ( we forgot that step on day I picked it up) And he foot the bill for all 4 of us and invited us back for a wedding hosted at his house, some free wine to take home, what a sweet deal.

wow that sounds like fun , I will keep it in mind, that site looks a little confusing do you donate ahead of time ? or in Holbrook?  Got a phone number for the wigwam?  is that in Holbrook ?

Here is the WEB site for the Wigwam Motel:
http://www.galerie-kokopelli.com/wigwam/
They do not have anybody manning the check in till4:00p.m. and they are there till 8:30p.m. but you should leave a message and yes, they will get back to you.

The Wigwam is great.  You can pull your bike right up to the front door.  Don't expect much in creature comforts, remember it's like traveling in the 50's 60's.  The linens are always fresh and clean and there is air and TV.  Most of the time we leave the door open and sit outside or walk along the units and talk with people who are doing the same.  Meet a lot of interesting people up there.  If you go there eat at the Butterfied Steak house which is about a block away.  Nice walk in the evenings.  The Wigwam was used as the inspiration for one of the motels in the movie "Cars".

Here's a web site for La Posada which is also on Route 66.  The ladies all love this place and you get "points" for taking them there for a meal.

http://www.laposada.org/

Some Saturday evening bring that ride out to the Scottsdale Pavilions car/bike show.  You'll meet a few other Valk riders.  Email me ahead of time and I'll bring my Interstate and meet you there.

Enjoy the new ride.

Beautiful bike. Best color!!

I think you need 3 things for it. 1. A grabrail, for the back where you removed the sissy bar. 2. Chrome swingarm covers, and 3. Chrome engine hanger covers. Then it will be perfect. Well, Mark T pipes would help too.(then it would be perfect) ..oh, and Cobra light bar. (I love spending other people's money)

>>> Steve I went out to garage to see if you took my Bike for a Photo Op....LOL

Yep, I've had plenty of time to get her fixed up like that, ...bought her as a new "left-over" standard in 01, but it is a 98 Standard. I added the Champion bags and OEM windshield. I've also added a J&M intercom/CB, Progressive 440s and Front Springs, Rivco lightbar, Rattlebars peg lowering kit with Cobra floorboards, and numerous bling.

Really think about a grabrail for the back, you can buy numerous ones, I like the one I have from Viper Creations, http://www.viper-creations.com/ but it's expensive. (hey, you got a good deal on the bike!!) I think the grabrail may add rigidity to the rear end which is important.

You can get the engine hanger covers from various sources online and it dresses up that hole around the ignition key and petcock. Cobra light bar is tits if you can find one.

You'll have a thousand questions before you're through.. if no one has told you yet, the major difference between the Valk and the Wing.. "The Valk's got Soul"

Thanks for the invite, I was there maybe up to two years ago, Pre Valk Owner, that board format drives me insane.

Even with or without frames.  That is how  the internet was in it's first existence.

I offered to make it look new style such as this board and at my cost and they laughed me out of the ball park so I never returned.

HOLD THE PHONE STEVE !!!!

you mean that is a Standard with Champion Bags ?  I never heard of them, Dang ....You Realise

I f I knew that before I would have owned one of these machines a long time ago.

I was waiting on good deal on a Tourer because of the hard bags. I seen some after market bags, such as beatle bags which look neat but I like the Factory Look, then I seen some others that are a tinge shorter, which I did not care for.

Got a Link to them ?

That is sweet looking I never knew it was a standard.

My Interstate is "Arizona Black" that means it stays black for about and hour.  Now if you really like polishing I can arrange for it to be in you driveway sometime this weekend minus the key of course.  It stiill has Utah all over it.

And if you want to double yer fun the Magna is also Arizona Black and I got caught in the rain last night so.............

What polish should I bring???

Yes, mine is a Valkyrie Standard with add on aftermarket Champion Hardbags. I paid about $1100 dollars for them in 02 but they're more now.
