10w-40 is what is called for.... no synthetic friction modifiers.

Some run heavier oil (20-50) in hot regions.

Well check your clutch hydraulic fluid... is it clean or pee yellow?  How long since changed?

Many go to synthetic for longevity, and a quieter engine/valves/gear whine... but not vibration.

Believe the tone of the Valk changes when shifted into first from neutral, but that is not really vibration.

Asking about oil brings out a large box that many will stand on and express their opinion.

Since you asked, I will jump up.

Hear ye!, Hear ye!

Yea 'O I'll take a stand!
Rotella T6 Synth!
Jus' moved a 2K/IS from this, to Rotalla "Dino" oil.
Goin' back to T6 synth next change! Feels "sluggish" on the dino oil.
Shifts smoother, easier, & quieter on the T6.
Rotella T6 is a synthetic diesel engine oil with a "great" detergent package, no friction modifiers, & excellent lubricating abilities.
Shouldn't have tried to save a $. Goin' back to T6 asap.

But that still leaves me with a couple gallons in the garage of the T6 and even the DINO stuff just in case.

The bike ONLY gets T6 since she has never needed a top up. angel

any top tier 15w40 or 5w40 diesel oil.  walmart super-tech is
re-badged delvac 15w40.

chevron Delo 400 LE is the best oil out there to use right now IMO
high in zinc, phos, moly and boron all great anti-wear additives. moly is only a problem when it is at 500 PPM. most m/c oils including mobils' have about 100 ppm.

My soapbox now.  I use mobil one synthetic 15/50 motor oil.  That being said, anything that has been mentioned here is suitable.  OEM spec is 10/40, synthetic or not.  I luv oil posts, almost as good as tires.  Hoser  Grin

cooldude cooldude cooldude Hoser knows what he's talking about. I used RT6 for a longtime in the Valks but found recently that the full synthetic Mobil 1 15W50 allows them to shift better IMO.  Roll Eyes

There's a few good oil's out there! Not sure what's available in Ireland?
I used Mobile one in my Bikes for decades then years ago went to "Rotella Synthetic 5w40" ,and worked so good that I use it! I've lived in 115 degree weather and rode Death Valley of few times at 125 degrees and I have the bike in - 40 degree weather in ND and it starts fine but I cheat and aim a heater at it for a few minutes, lol!

IMHO, as long as you're using a good quality oil (NO friction modifiers) and change it often, it really doesn't matter.

Probably more important than which oil you use is the filter.  Don't skimp on filters.  Again, and IMHO, it doesn't get any better than the Purolator Pure One PL14610 or PL14612.  One is longer than the other.

For oil, I use Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50.  A lot of folks use the Rotella, but a lot use the V-Twin oil and the Pure one filters too.
