One of my mirrors moves when I hit a good bump. Has anyone figured a way to tighten one of these?

I don't know how to finesse them. But mine got so bad I decided to replace them. I purchased VTX 1800N mirrors. I was familiar with them as I owned one at the time. They are higher quality and adapt well.

Long, long ago I brushed the seam of the 2 pieces with a small amount of clear fingernail polish.
Wasn't a Valk make sure you get the mirror adjusted where you want it then apply the clear giving time to dry.

Where it is moving is at movable joint on the mirror assembly itself. It appears that the only way to access that joint is to remove the mirror from the frame. Unless there is a trick, I think I better have another set of mirrors on hand before I try.

Yes, mirrors, or their stems, are a trick.

When you loosen the hex, you allow the stem to be moved. When you tighten it down, then  it won't more (or won't move too freely).

When you tighten the stem to handle bar, you can no longer rotate the stem.

When you tighten the hex to the mirror portion, then you can no longer rotate the mirror.

I also seem to recall that they may be revers thread also, and they don't take too much pressure to stop them from moving freely on you, you don't wont them super tight, incase someone bumps into them.

BikeBandit sells mirrors that are an exact copy of Hondas OEM. I have one butcan't tell the difference between the two.

Yes remove the mirror - I had a problem on the road with the assy hitting the ground it dented in the back of the mirror. So I took a metal pick(scrieb) to removed the mirror glass and rubber seal. There is a 12mm or 10mm nut that you need to thighten just a little more it is compressing a spring that holds tension on assy. To reinstall rubber and glass mirror use dish soap and it will slip back in.

I snugged up the top hex on my left mirror the other day with a narrow 14mm wrench.  Pretty easy.  Works great again.  Not ready to buy new ones yet.
