So ... today I went to put new fork seals in my bike. I jacked it up , removed the calipers, loosened the left side pinch bolts, loosened one right side pinch bolt, and rounded out the hole on the other one 'cuz it was so tight. I took a hammer and drove in an SAE larger hex and promptly rounded the hole out with that one too. Said screw it...put the calipers back on, tightened the pinch bolts back. Unscrewed the fork cap on the side that had the bad leak (that I got stopped with the SealMate) and poured in about 8 ounces of oil and put the cap back on. Now the bike rides soooo much better. I was looking for bumps to ride over just to feel how good it worked. I may not have the exact right amount of oil in the fork but it sure is riding a whole lot better. Maybe at some later date I'll figure out how to get that pinch bolt out and change seals and put the proper amount of oil in.

I have a set of these, work better on allen heads. You have to drill the hole a bit deeper so the extractor doesn't bottom out, then tap the extractor into the hole and use a wrench to turn it. John, I have a set of those somewhere. I was looking for them this evening but haven't found them yet. If I can't find them I'll go to the store Monday or Tuesday and get some. Thanks .....

Sure it's doable.....you just don't know how much you have in the fork if you don't drain and refill with the proper amount.

On the stuck pinch bolt...tighten the OTHER one up before attempting to get the bad one out again. Takes the pressure off.

On the stuck pinch bolt...tighten the OTHER one up before attempting to get the bad one out again. Takes the pressure off.
+1 except....is it the single one or the tree with two pinch bolts? If the larger single one he might still have trouble. Can't tell by the post but I'm led to believe it is the tree with two bolts.

Right Daniel....axle pinch bolts. I already tried tightening up the loosened one then trying the other one....no joy. I am good for now but I will work on getting the rounded out one loose. I do want to change seals and put in the proper amount of oil before too much longer.

OK, I sit corrected. Thought you were talking about the pinch bolts on the trees. There I go....thinking again.

May want to take care of sooner than later what if you have a flat tire now you got a tow bill for sure.
Also have you tried taking the other 3 pinch bolts loose and use a brass drift to remove axel once Adelaide is free there should be zero tension on tensing pinch bolt
