Has any one replace the 6 bulbs on the bottom of the instrument panel (turn signals, neutral, etc) with something brighter.  The turn signal bulb  indicators are not very bright or noticeable and I would like to find something brighter.

Do a search for LED. I never saved the link, but some have replaced those dim bulbs with better LED ones.

I haven't seen anywhere that I can remember anybody changing out those across the bottom just the 4 primary ones behind the gauges.

Are they the same bulbs? If they are.....I would just put the same (new ) ones in. Probably just dim from being worn out. Can you clean the inside of the lenses ? (q-tip?)

Incandescent bulbs do dim over time so replacing them will brighten the indicators but replacing them with LED's is a better option "in MY opinion."  To each their own.

But as mentioned about the lenses, at 10+ years old maybe the contacts are dirty.   Isopropyl alcohol on a qtip should clean that.

I'm not so sure that all of those bulbs are easily replaceable.

Some, if I remember correctly are soldered in.

Of course, I am referring to an Interstate only.

The bulbs that light up the tach and speedometer are the one's

that I know are replaceable, and they are the bayonet type bulb.

I knew that I had one of the four replaceable instrument bulbs out, so I removed the instrument panel yesterday.  I took the whole thing apart and found that the six bulbs on the bottom are soldered into the circuit board.  As I was putting it back together again and cleaning as I went, I noticed that the turn signal indicators had arrows for each direction.  This had not been evident before.  Needless to say someone before me had taken the panel apart and put it back together incorrectly.  Now the turn signal indicators are bright and obvious which they weren't before.  I ordered new led bulbs to replace the burnt out bulb and the world should be right again.
