currently our I/S has stock shocks. When I ride 2 up with my wife (295lbs/135lbs) on the scenic back roads of New Hampshire we ride some roads which are full of frost heaves. Will progressive 440's be of much help with the comfort level when riding these roads?

I would get the works shocks.
The progressive shocks are junk,IMHO.

I have progressive on my valk and I am not impressed, the stockers must be real bad. I am considering up grading the springs to heavier. I have had works on my four wheeler and on my zrx and have good luck and their quality was good. You order your shocks for you and your setup not just a generic off the shelf item. They cost a little more but I think they are worth it.

I have Progressive HD 440 (Heavy Duty) paired with Progressive front springs. Love Them  Yes I would absolutely recommend them. My personal experience is they are a good company that stands by their product. I don't know about others, I do know from reading posts over the years many may not have them adjusted properly, or have purchased the wrong application for their bike. With any suspension, it must be properly adjusted for your weight and style of riding. |

I second that! You'd be throwing your money away if you don't get HD... me and my wife can bottom out our non-HD progressives on easy bumps (like bridge expansion joints) and I weigh 195... The progressive folks told me I could send back my shocks and they'd put heavy duty springs on (they said the springs were the only difference, sounds weird to me, but that's what they said) for $30.00. I haven't wanted to be without my shocks, and they're great with just me, but I plan to do it soon... -Mike "soon  " |

I switched form stockers to 440 HD's and LOVE them. When I recently had a fork seal leak I finally got around to installing the fork springs as well. Funny how you don't notice the slooooow deterioration until you have installed new! The rear is a bit stiff when I'm riding solo, but I ride it hard and fast, so I appreciate them. The front end had gotten so harsh my left mirror would come loose over expansion joints and such. Not anymore. The only drawback is the springs on the rears have begun to rust and I'm not the least bit pleased about that.

I have a set of used scratched set of 440's sitting on the bench in Loudon NH. @ my brothers shop. I scratched the crap out of them moving them from solo to 2 up untill I bought a set of plastic jaw water pump pliers then chose to go with 416 air shocks and problem solved. They do ride better than the 416's but if If your better half is only 135lbs these are set and forget it shocks. I'm usally there on nights and weekends. Not looking for big bucks and could even install on the deal.. Email me...
