Problem starting
At pushing the button, the starter gives one "thunk"
That's it, no smell of gas, took apart + cleaned up the starter button + plenty of battery
Background:
Just got it back having the starter drive gear + idled gear replaced and the carburetors cleaned
Theory was - one carburetor didn't work, filled cylinder with gas (there was a gas smell) and when I tried to start it, I stripped the gears
We started it a few times in the shop, started ok at home the first time, then - the thunk
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like it is hydro locked again, or it has torn another tooth off and locked up between 2 teeth.

Put it in sec or third gear and try to rock it back and forth if it will turn motor over it is not locked.

If it made a real 'THUNK' , don't do it again ! Pull all the sparklers and clear the cylinders. Take note of any cylinders with fuel in them. If all cylinders are dry then we'll figure out something else, like starter switch maintenance or some such thing.

Agreed,, don't push the start button again until you have removed the plugs.
